I basically played all day yesterday, somehow. I started at onyx 1688. I won 38 games and lost 14 and lost 60 CSR over the whole session. This game is a disaster. 343 just doesn’t know how to make a simple ranking system that WORKS. There is no world in which I should win 2 times to every loss and lose CSR. Go back to 1-50. What a joke and waste of time. I’ll literally go -1 in a game and lose 15 CSR and get 1-3 CSR for every win.
For some reason, 343 has to change everything that bungie established as halo. I honestly don’t even know why I’m taking the time to post on here. It’s not going to change anything and they are going to continue to burn the franchise down because they are lazy. Hey, they are bring king of the hill back (except it’s not king of the hill anymore and instead is now capture the zone lmao). They just don’t get it. Do they have anybody on the staff that actually played halo 2 / halo 3 online?

Release forge already. What are your employees doing that takes years to make a forge??? It’s been 6 months since release and we have ZERO new content. Sounds like a lot of “work from homers” are at home and not working.

They tried to make a game that catered to the masses instead of the core halo fan base and now the masses are gone and, some of, the core halo community (about 1,000 people) are left playing this trash, cater to the masses game.
That will be why then, you’re already a high ranking Onyx player with I assume other high ranking Onyx players so it’s much harder for the system to consistently get games that are good matches for you lot because of the stack. So you end up getting a lot of easier to win games and some of those supposed easier to win games you lost or underperformed in resulting in a CSR loss.
Basically if your aim is to grind CSR, it’s a dangerous game at the high end doing it in a stack due to the tiny % of players searching near your teams total MMR. I’d suggest anyone solely looking to grind CSR should play solo/team of 2. You’ll get better matched games for the most part too where all players are more similar level. But the higher you go the harder it is if the population isn’t high enough.
There are a lot of f2p games with half-decent ranking systems. Look at Chess for example.
Partial jokes aside the f2p model isn’t the reason the game is in such a terrible state. The reason includes the litany of issues you included in your post - bad progression system and lack of content, - paired with a host of other issues like an exploitable matchmaking system for ranked, no/poor anti-cheat, desync, and the lethargic pace of acknowledging and addressing issues. I’m sure there’s more but this captures the gist of the problem - 343 had a lot of issues post-release and they apparently have substantial room for improvement at triaging and addressing their game’s issues.
This pretty much where I’m at. 343s responses have generally been lack luster word vomits which don’t convey they’re adapting the project goals. Instead it feels like they’re railroading the developer priorities to fit with the original goals and entirely ignoring the meat and potatoes issues plaguing the game. Frankly this is why I stopped playing Infinite - while I love the gunplay, I hate the multiplayer experience and I don’t have faith that 343i to improve the experience anytime soon.
Given the state of Infinite I’d be surprised if anyone on the team played any competitive FPS game. If they did then they should know better than anyone how horrendous some of the issues with Infinite are.
