Ranking system question

How will the ranking system work in H5? I have heard that they said it will be like H2-H3, but I never really played those games besides on the MCC so I don’t know specifically how they work. Will we have a rank for each different multiplayer mode and playlist (separate ranks for arena, Warzone, BTB when it releases, etc.) or will we only have one ranking overall? Thanks

As far as Arena multiplayer, the ranking system will be using true skill behind the scenes. Much like Halo 2 had been using.

Just no rank-locking though, please, that crap can stay in Halo 3!!!

Highcomm, there will be ‘rank locking’ for Semi-pro, when you reach that level you don’t go lower, just have your number ranking change.

I think that is kind of dumb tbh why should someone not be able to drop once they reach semi pro. with a good team it will be so easy to obtain semi pro rank if it ranks you like the beta after 10 games or whatever it was.

This is a really good breakdown, thanks.
So, the CSR is per-playlist. Does that mean you play ten placement matches per playlist, when you so choose to start playing in a different playlist?

i.e. Let’s say you start off playing arena, you play your ten placement matches and you get placed in a division. After, you decide you want to play BTB. Do you play ten BTB placement matches to get placed in a division in that playlist?

I believe that is how it will be. Same way it was in the beta.

I wonder if it would be beneficial to play poorly those first ten matches so you could climb through the ranks and leave a trail of pwned noobs in your wake? lol

You could definitely do that if you wanted, but I’d imagine you would rank up really quickly once your placed in a division.

you’re probably right. I originally said that jokingly but as I thought about it… you get req points for doing well as a team, winning, and for going up in rank… so it actually would be beneficially as far as req packs go to do that. I wouldn’t go as far as to call it farming, but it could definitely be an exploit.
