You might think that this way people stop playing for goals and only care about the K / D ratio but I don’t think it would happen because if you lose the game you lose a lot more points.
In any case, even in the current system it would be useful to see the number of CSRs in the Tier, and how many points are won or lost in each game.
The CSR point system already seems to rely heaviliy on the K/D, and not the actual point system in game. That means there’s no incentive to go for the objective if you team is losing, I might as well lose less CSR from being paired with dummies than not, so I’ll just camp in a spot while my team gets rekt 3v4 and artificially raise my K/D.
They should also consider assists in the formula, since it’s a team game, but I doubt anyone at 343 actually thought of the system that much.
It’s just using trueskill 2.0 (top google search), which looks at kda, w/l and if you quit or not (quit is treated as a surrender and you lose more rating for quitting than staying and losing). I’d say more emphasis should be on the w/l than there is - currently feels like 80/20 with 80 being about kda - should be the opposite probably. I guess your system is trying to do that more.
They also need a reconnect option for ranked. There is clearly still issues on PC and people crash on 10-20% of their ranked games while being up to date and above min specs.
I prefer any ranked system being weighted towards personal performance (including KDA) rather than W/L as your rank is a personal reflection of YOUR performance not the team mates you play with (ie I shouldn’t lose much rank if I perform well but my real life or random team mates aren’t very good at the game). If you think about it, your rank is personal and as such need to reflect your personal skill.
It’s flawed unfortunately. People literally don’t try to win and just protect their kda. We are seeing this in infinite already and we saw this all through h5 as well. This idea only works in slayer because getting more kills leads to more wins. People are ranking up on losses as they use the objective and teammates as bait to pad that kill count. Obviously doesn’t apply to everyone but there’s plenty of people doing it. And no I’m not saying if you are going 30-15 k/d in oddball when your team is losing by 100 you are just a stat padder.
Assists do factor heavily in to the formula. It takes into account your KDA and not just your KD. I’ve gone negative with a lot of assists and gained rating before.
Yeah, it’s sad but true. If I (D6) realize early into a game of, say, Strongholds that we’re clearly, absolutely going to lose, I will focus exclusively on maximizing kills (if this is still Trueskill2, the system does not consider deaths anyway) and ignore objectives. And… that has honestly worked out great. Anecdotally, I lose FAR less rank by ignoring captures and hitting 20 or 25 kills rather than fighting tooth and nail for each zone and dying much more in the process.
