Do we know if we’re getting a ranked playlist on launch?
I believe I heard mention of ranked playlists not having grenade markers. And if we are getting ranked playlists, I hope the ranking system is simple and rewarding.
I think this is arguably as important as the XP battlepass issue, as a good ranking system will have a big impact on the longevity of this game’s playlists too.
There will be a ranked system at launch. During the last tech test they had a menu that explained how the whole tank system worked. Basically very similar to H5 although there was no mention at the kind of rewards you’ll get for each season.

That’s a relief! Yeah didn’t really play h5 much, but I think the ranking system was decent in that?
Yeah completing some of the challenges can be tought , I had alot of time spent on the seasonal and PVP ones, the PVE are real easy for the most part. Just over repetitive. Like killing 500 high class lvled elites or get 343 assassinations and stuff

I liked the ranking system in Halo 5. It felt pretty accurate to me although some people liked the simplicity of a 1-50 rank instead of H5’s bronze-Onyx rankings.
It should have Halo 5’s style ranked playlists. Especially since they’re calling pvp “arena slayer” still. Even that was available at launch in Halo 5. With the confirmation of all the esports teams today for Infinite there’s 0% chance they don’t launch the game with ranked playlists.

It was there in the flight… a menu option for ranked that had a splash page with a brief explanation; bronze to onyx.

In the tech test when you were in the playlist selection screen you could click in right stick and it would bring up some text about how ranks worked in the game. I don’t have screenshots of this but it was present in the tech test. The game basically says you do 10 placement matches each season and then get placed in a rank between Bronze-Onyx.

It was the same exact system, just with a different skin. Halo 3 had the 1-50 but the hidden MMR could actually go up to like 70 or something like that. Halo 5 just stopped hiding those ranks. So even though Diamond II or Diamond III was the equivalent of a 50 in Halo 3 they had a visual representation of all the higher ranks as well. If I could have it my way the Infinite system would use both the H5 Bronze-Onyx, but also a numeral representation as well.

It was accurate… and hopefully they have continued to build on TrueSkill2 (at least 2.5 if not 3).
I think they like the divisions (eg. Platinum) because it’s less distressing when you are placed in games with wide skill ranges. Nobody gets upset with Gold vs Platinum despite the fact that it could be the equivalent of a ‘16’ vs a ‘33’ at the extremes of each Division.
