I don’t think I’m fully understanding how the point system for ranking works. Games where my team wins by a large margin, like, 50-15, my skill level only goes up like 4 points. Then I’ll go around the next game and lose a very close game like 48-50 and go down 19 points? It’ll flip flop around most times also, it feels like this game just randomly generates a number after the match that decides how far you increase/decrease.
Wouldn’t it make sense to have large spread wins/losses to go down/up big and close wins/losses to down/up small? Unless there is something I missed, in which case I’d be glad to hear the explanation.
I’m not entirely sure how it works either, but I think it’s similar to TrueSkill in that the amount of increase/decrease is based more off of who you’re playing against, while winning or losing only determines which way it goes (up or down). Hopefully that helps.
it takes awhile to become consistent. ive been either gaining or losing 10 or so per game
I think it’s total bogus too, by all means, but here’s the answer to your question
Whenever there are less enemies (players quit) you don’t lose as many points if you’re on the disadvantaged team, and if you’re on the winning team you don’t get as many points.
If you play people who are Bronze and you’re Semi pro I don’t think you get many points either (i would hope), although I have matched up against a full team of 4 sweats when I’m searching solo all with the rank “Pro” and I’m gold 3 wondering why I got paired up with them as I’m searching SOLO and still lost like 15 points. Don’t know why the game would try and penalize me like that really.
I also think the rank system is dumb in general.
For SLAYER, if you go positive on the losing team then your rank should go up, not down. It’s slayer. That’s the objective. You did it better than the enemies if you’re going positive… But if you have 2 or 3 anchors who lose the game for you and you still go positive you go down too. That doesn’t reflect individual competitive skill. It’s bogus. I also think if you go negative on the winning team you should go down. Just the order of things honestly. It’s not fair when I search solo and stomp the enemy team but have 2 players going mad negative and bringing me down with them. Somehow I’ve worked my way up to Onyx from Gold 2 and never played a co-op matchmaking game more than 1 time and I’ve played like 40 games. It’s honestly a mystery to me how I’ve ranked up because I always go down and up down and up in rank because my rank seems completely out of my own hands.
