The downside of that artificial “journey” is that it would involve playing and beating teams ranked below you.
What’s in it for them?
Grinding isn’t bad - unless it’s toxic or pointless.
Definitely not my cup of tea.
Besides, I thought the modus operandi of streamers was to smurf their accounts so they can smash players below their paygrade. Any journey is contrived. And, again, not fair on the opposition players who get sucked in.
It would have assumed your MMR from the other Ranked playlist as a starting point.
The system is still unsure at this stage. Your MMR is wide. So your CSR starts off on the left hand edge of your MMR curve.
With consistent play they can meet very quickly.
And what are they supposed to enjoy?
While you take this transcendent and spiritual journey to your sweat zone?
You can’t just have your MMR.
For a start it’s not a number - it’s a probability curve.
And it seems that 343 have taken the strategy of leaving it a bit wider and more volatile than you would expect. Definitely much less locked than an ELO rating in Chess for example. But this leaves your MMR to swing with form. And to pick up toxic players like Smurfs VERY quickly.
The downside is that you then need a CSR to “chase” your MMR in a slower, smoother, fashion.
And look, don’t get me wrong. I think 343 need to give players something to grind for. As I suggested - something like championship points for every win vs a lobby at your skill level. Have leader boards - and military ranks to earn.
Give the players something fun to grind for.
