I wish that halo 343 would implement the same type of ranking system that was used in halo 3. where you would lose rank if you do poorly. with a separate category for player match. when you cant lose rank and only gain it then you reach max rank which then the games becomes futile but if you have to risk your rank every time you play then the game remains interesting.
While I may agree that Halo 3’s ranking system is better (than H4), I still prefer Halo: Reach’s rating system.
Once I got to understand the method behind it, I could tell about two games ahead about how good or bad things were going to be for me.
Likewise, I could tell who was doing well and who was having a bad day based on their rank division and percentage placement therein.

I agree, I loved it.
Whether you focused on skill or EXP (or more often both) you could still rank up.
I also liked how they were ranks such as ‘Gunnery Sargent’ or ‘Brigadier General’ not just SR130.
This was the best and I hope one day it’ll return…

Reach’s divisions was a fun idea and should be used again.
However, the rating system had nothing to do with your division later on as they changed it from individual stats to pure a pure W/L system later on. You didn’t bring it up, but I thought I would.

I didn’t bring it up because my last go in the arena was season 12? I played seasons 10 and 11 but that was before I had to move to another town so I didn’t get into it much because of more important things going on at the time.
I had no idea they changed the system, that’s kinda sad really.
Halo needs a Seasonal League/Divison system just like every other (and more popular) competitive game out there. It’s a better type of ranking system than 1-50.
What about both? H2/H3 ranking system + Reach’s progression system. Insta-success!!!
It needs to return for Halo 5. And it needs to be seen in-game. Halo 3 had the best set-up: Ranked and Social. Bungie and 343i should have never removed it.
I totally agree. Even if they don’t put it in-game, I’d be fine. CSR just doesn’t work. It should actually match you up with people your skill level. It shouldn’t match a 50 with a 1. Ever!
