No matter how terrible or how good you are it doesn’t matter in the halo rank system. You can have a negative k/d in arena and still rank UP because you got lucky with a good team Or you can be the ONLY one with a positive k/d possibly even the highest k/d in the game and your rank goes down because your team lost. Your rank is solely dependent on your luck to get a decent team. (this is referring to swat)
I just don’t understand what was wrong with the halo 2 /3 rank system. I think they changed it cause people would freak when the saw numbers higher than them. Now the system is so confusing, people have no idea what they are up against. Makes no sense.
Now when people ask my rank I gotta say platinum 2/ csr 22 slayer, wtf, does csr ever even go down?

My understanding is that your CSR can go down within a rank. I.e. you can’t go from Platinum 1 to Gold 4 (or whatever it is below it). Once you’re in a rank, you are stuck there. Your CSR can go down within that rank though. I.e. you can go from platinum 3 to platinum 2.
Are there even people that really care about this statistic? Anymore?
I noticed a big drop-off in Rank/ Leaderboard statistics and the amount of people who care about them, in modern games, since mid-way through the last generation of consoles. I used to always strive to reach top in games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior, for instance…and I always played with the same people. But not long after, me and most of my friends stopped playing ranked matches and that’s namely because in most games it was an option to partake in ranking and it became hard to find games in ranked matchmaking. It sounds to me like you should be playing Destiny, which features a full-on PVP mechanic and it is in MMO’s where PVP is more stat driven and rewarding to the enthusiasts…with tournament events and gear to be won practically every weekend(?). At least, I think they still have Iron Banner events.
I don’t know, maybe I’m just an old gamer now and could care less about this super competitive stuff. It’s actually why I don’t play Destiny and PVP anymore. It was too geared toward the hardcore and the stat driven, which used to be me, back between 2005-2008. Now, I tend to prefer games that reward you for commitment and time played. I’ve also had my fill of Arena style gaming. It’s fun to pop in and do if you just need a fast few REQ points to the next REQ pack, but that’s about it. Warzone is where it is at for me and I don’t thin that goes off of rank.
Agreed. I enjoy SWAT most. But I rarely go negative. And most of the time my team does. Yet its going to be more difficult for me to rank up due to wins being the only factor in advancing. Halo 2s TSR is the only way to go IMO.
If you want to be measured as an individual, play FFA. Team gametypes measure your ability to play as a team.

I have yet to see my number drop
I just wish we still had the 1-50 rank system. I miss the simple days!

Nope, it definitely doesn’t. Though I do wish it did take some sort of algorithm into consideration. Not K/D of course, since it is a PvEvP mode and kills of other Spartans are worth significantly fewer points than bosses, but some hidden stat that measures your objective participation. Maybe [[Base captures + (base defense/attack kills x0.25) + Boss Takedowns + REQ cards used]/Games played]. The first day of Warzone for me was pretty intense, with final scores of 997-1000 in just about every game I played. But as the week progressed, I started seeing nothing but totally lopsided matches (as in 1000 to <250) repeatedly. And once one side starts getting a commanding lead, it seems to be popular strategy to just turtle in a base and let the game drag on instead of mounting a comeback with a few REQ card spawns.
It is a team game, if your team loses, your rank goes down. This is what it always should have been not some k/d crap. If you prefer to go by individual performance, FFA playlist is waiting for you.

I do agree with you, but the 10 placement games do not. I believe your personal stats weight much more than wins during the first 10 games. I played with a team of four and we won all 10 team arena games and we were all placed in Diamond. We believe we did not make Onyx because because we are on the same skill level and no one out performed the other team mate. Usually in a TS game we ended with 15, 13, 12 and 10 kills in those games and very close in assists. Oh well, looks like we will just have to win our way through Diamond.

Eventually you rank high enough where a negative K/D is going to hurt your team and you’ll stop ranking up. Teamwork is important in TEAM games
I’m not the highest Elo in swat but if you’re good enough you can still win even with bad people. They can’t make everything exactly fair it’s the same with many games and the higher you rank you’ll start playing with better people. Sure it’s unfair but that just means carry harder my friend.

Find some friends to play with and have a four man squad to limit the amount of people going negative.
Sorry but why I keep seeing people complain about this? Halo has always been a team game and that means you are ranked on a win/loss outcome not some K/D stat. Its like any team sport it dont matter how well an individual did if the team lost at the end of the day the result is important not personal performance.
As others have said if your looking to be rewarded for your individual performance then go play FFA, its really pretty simple tbh…
