So in just short of a few weeks we get to finally find out how the ranking system is going to work in Halo Infinite! What is everyone hoping for as far as how you rank up in each playlist and do you prefer to have your ranks reset after each season or would you like to retain your rank throughout your entire Halo Infinite career?
Not sure. I want things like radar back in Infinite in ranked playlists and I want a rank system similar to the Halo Reach system mixed with the MCC tier to keep me going.
My main wish about the ranking system is that it should be completely transparent and give the player full information about how the rank is calculated in order to give the player the opportunity to test the algorithms used in the ranking system.
Other than the curiosity surrounding the abovementioned point, I’m not that excited about the ranking system in Halo Infinite. The main purpose of a skilled based ranking system is to compare the skill level between different players. In addition to that, the rank may also be used in order to create fair teams.
We largely already know how the rank system works. It’s CSR 2.0 Bronze-Oynx ranks.
I would like to see the ranking not only be based on Win/Loss but also performance. If you play an incredible game but still lose, you should suffer as big of a hit. On the other end, if you play horribly but win, you shouldn’t benefit as much.
I think tanks should reset after each season as game modes, maps, weapon rotations change. It’s a way to soft reset and not make things business as usual. I think seasons should be like 2-3 months long.

TrueSkill2 takes into account kills per minute to reflect performance.
I would prefer they weaved some magic with damage for and against (as a ratio to the player’s rank vs everyone else).
But at least it’s something.

They really aren’t resets. You keep your internal MMR… it’s just made ‘volatile’ so the system can quickly recheck itself (kind of the opposite of what happened with Halo 3’s rank locking)… and so they can regroup the really good players (the top end Onyx players slowly start to drift apart). They just need to explain it better… too many people thought they ‘had to start again’… and got frustrated with no rank for 10 games.
As someone with a lot of experience with both iRacing and R6 Siege, I’m for a quarterly reset/placement matches as well as separate ranking for broad categories. Assuming there is still a base/silent MMR calculated per player too.
Sometimes people don’t roll with the seasonal balances and placements accelerates the restructuring of player rosters.
A reputation system on top of MMR, again assuming there will be some hacker -Yoink- on PC at some point.
