So after playing the early access beta, I really didn’t like the ranking system and how XP was taken away from you if you lost a game.
I understand that it’s all about teamwork and how you communicate with each other but there are problems; literally 97% of people on Xbox LIVE don’t talk at all. For people who have friends to play with may not want to play with them every game but feel they have to because they might lose a game.
I don’t want to play Halo and feel like I absolutely have to win. I want to play Halo and lose a game and be able to say ‘‘doesn’t matter to much’’ instead of having 10-15XP taken away.
I think that 343 are going to stick by this so I came up with a small compromise that I really do think can make the game much better. The winning team still get their XP but the losing team should have a smaller amount of XP taken away form them, instead of a whole games worth.
Taking away the amounts that are in the beta just works you up and discourages to play it. I hope 343 take this into consideration.
I need something clarifying. Is it the playlist rank that loses xp or is it your Spartan Rank? And I agree with you that it shouldn’t be a whole games worth

You’re one of them who still hasn’t understanded the difference between ranking and level. Let me clarify.
Ranking balances out games so that you meet players which have around the same amount of skill as you. If you start to perform better you meet better, if you start to perform worse, you meet worse players.
The playlist in the beta is a ranked playlist and the ranking system is known as Competetive Skill Rank or CSR.
Level is just a clarification on how long you’ve played and how much. They still exist in Halo 5 and is known as Spartan Rank or SR (it indeed confuses many and should bechanged). You can’t go down in it, only up and.
There will most likely be non ranked playlists in the future and we might even see some on the upcoming, full beta.
Nothing to worry about, you still have your levels and ranks separeted
Hold up, hold up. That sounds like the best ranking system. If you loose then you should loose a games worth of xp. So if 2 teams bet 100 xp then the winners get their stake back plus extra and the loosers loose their stake.
If you are not playing to win you should not be playing a competitive game. Social slayer and customs are for people who don’t care about winning.
I can see what you’re saying. It’s extremely annoying for me when I go 24 and 2 carrying the team and racking up medals, but on the other hand all my teammates go negative 10 to 15 making us lose by almost nothing, therefore I get punished and de-ranked a little.
Although, I do like the skill based ranking system in that you lose less or more xp depending on your performance that match, and same for winning only you’re gaining xp. I just hope there are A LOT of ranks because I wanna be ranking up in this game and earning rewards for it long after release unlike Halo 4.
It’s not too bad though.
As far as your idea goes though, I disagree, I think you should lose less or more xp depending on your performance during the match if you lose the game.

Ah, I forgot that your CSR is playlist specific. I guess that’s a little better.
I do hope that in the 11 months or so until the full game releases, that they come up with something better than SR - it’s pretty boring.

No problem mate, here to help. And yes, the SR is pretty boring and the name is really confusing. I’d love if they had a level system like Halo 3 or reach where your level has a specifik emblem and name.
i dont mind the ranking system, but id prefer it to be on individual skill, i went 30-9 in a match last night on the losing team, we lost 50-46 and i got a -15 performance rate, for carrying my team

That’s exactly what I would like. Nobody has ever said ‘‘I cant wait to be SR9’’, It just doesn’t feel the same.

It should also take into account your personal performance and not just your teams. Hopefully they’ll consider that.
I think it should be if u lose you lose xp but how much is based on where u rank among your team so the guy in last losses a games worth of xp but the guy in first losses like half that

They would have completed their qualifying matches and probably been given Silver II to start with. If they keep doing bad they’ll soon be moved to Silver I.
