Ranking stuff

Why does it give you small amounts of points when you do really good, but detract a lot (like 2.5 times what you earned) at the slightest or closest loss?

Example:
Kills Assists Deaths Skill Points
Win [INSERT GAMERTAG HERE] 25 12 7 +7

Loss [INSERT GAMERTAG HERE] 19 13 20 -84

Win [INSERT GAMERTAG HERE] 10 2 17 +8

Loss [INSERT GAMERTAG HERE] 25 12 2 -75

Wow. The spaces are all gone now?

It makes sense. If you take a general win% in games, your % only goes up by a little bit when you win, but drops a ton when you lose. There’s this one game where I’m stuck at 93% win. if I win, it goes up by like .03%. If I lose, I lose like .5%.

Ranking up shouldn’t be easy. It’s probably just a quick rank system put together for the beta.

I think ranking should be based on a combination of KDA and winning. I play with randoms because I don’t have friends (forever alone) but I maintain a KDA of maybe 9-10. I get about 1.9 KD average and somewhere from 5-10 assists per game. However, pairing with randoms means I look at the carnage report after and see that my worst teammate fed about 30 kills.

I’ve pretty much stayed with a 1.9 KD through all Halo games I played, but I’ve always done the worst in Team matches because I don’t play with a party or come with a team (forever alone). Attempts to communicate with my random team have varying degrees of success, but parties that have learned to work together will always dominate. But whenever I play lone wolves or rumble pit (and sometimes doubles) I maintain a high ranking because I don’t have to deal with randoms.

Honestly, it is stuff like this that makes me never enjoy playing ranked playlists. I like winning, and I really dislike losing. I really hate needing to win five times to rank up, lose once to rank down, then need another three wins to get back up. I quickly became fond of social playlists in Halo 3 and beyond. People, including myself, worry far too much about rankings when they are rarely fair to you.
