Halo 5’s ranking is one the most interesting ranking systems. I love that instead of using numbers to rank people like they did in halo 3 they use classes. And then when your really good you get ranked in a population of 1500.
This makes for extreme competitive play, where it falls down is the fact that if i play well and the team loses then i still get down graded. Surely the person who has the best statistics eg. Number of kills, lowest deaths, Best KDA should not be subjected to demotion. I understand that halo 5 is team based but the CSR is not a true representation of a persons skill in halo 5 if they are let down by team mates.
Solution: The person on the losing side that has the best statistics such as highest Kills, lowest deaths (Best KD). For objective gametypes you need to take into consideration number of Flag kills , flag captures, Strongholds captured/ saved. I understand that statistics of a game dont always represent whether a person was in the right position or not but they are the closest representation of a players skill.
You go into a team game without a team, you’re going to lose. I think your KDA in swat or slayer should have a say in how you rank up. I’m a little tired of these game where I go 13-2 in SWAT and my team loses because teammates have a score like 20-24, or 3-17 (thus I lose rank progress). Where do you find time to die so much?! Its a little messed up.

Bungie doesn’t have anything to do with Halo anymore. You should alter your title if you’re serious about your point.

You can be stat wise the best player on the team, but in reality you could very well be the reason your team lost. Selfish playstyle that harm the performance of the team.

Agreed, im not denying that but they are a better indication than nothing. But thats when you need to take into consideration assists. Assists are sometimes the reason your team mates get the kill. Consistently dying and going 3 and 10 is a good indication that a person is rushing and not moving with their team mates.

Exactly, slayer and swat are probably the two gametypes that can be most accurately determined by statistics who played they best.

The halo 3 rank was in my opinion a lot more balanced, now that could be because of great numbers playing halo 3 than 5. From the matches ive played sometimes you will have a balanced team on paper however it is the fourth person that lets the team down. I don’t think your rank in halo 3 move as much in halo 5. In halo 5 it is almost certainly impossible to rank from diamond 1 to onyx without using a fireteam/friends. You can’t simply go onto slayer with randoms and expect to win.

But we do not have nothing. We have a W / L system.
As I said, you being good stat wise can be a detriment to overall team performance meaning you should rank down, like wise, your awesome personal stats may as well be the reason for another player’s abyssmal stats, or alternatively, their statwise poor performance can be the key to your superb stats.
Your skill rank is only accurate after you’ve gotten enough matches. The individual match does not matter but the collection of them does. Statistically with enough iterations you will see you lose matches for the same reason you win them, provided you play solo and everyone else you match with and against also does so.

So bear in mind that I’m not saying that the person on the losing side who has the best statistics still ranks up, they just don’t get down graded. It can not be said that just because a person had the worst statistics on the team went bad because of the team or one person wasn’t supporting them, each person has to for fill a roll and take responsibility for when they die and how they move on the map and when to push with team mates. I will give you an example of a game i played on slayer RED team (3 gold , 1 platinum) Blue team (1 diamond, 3 platinum’s), Match scores ended up Red 50 Blue 39. 3 of the platinum’s on my team went negative KDA one guy went 3 kills and 14 deaths, this person has clearly tried to lone wolf it on team slayer and yet everyone gets punished because he didn’t want to stay as a team or move with another team mate. You cannot call your CSR a skill rank if you have to contend with carrying a team mate.
A win lose system is not an accurate determination of a person competitive skill rank.
