Hi 343,
This is my first post I’ve made on here after diligently following the bug investigation thread since release and staying optimistic while continuously being disappointing that the matchmaking system still isn’t fixed. How did bungie get things right in 2004 and in 2014 you screwed the pooch?
The matchmaking is at least playable now, and for that I’m still playing some MCC. Why is H2A still the only playlist that is ranked? When the game launched every other playlist said: “ranking coming soon”. The game is at least playable now. We are 2 and a half months post-launch, and I wouldn’t consider that time frame “soon” when anticipating ranking systems. I used to love playing close matches in Halo 2 trying to rank up, and going in with a team. I am more of an old school halo fan than most of my friends, several of which I want to play halo with, but they simply refuse because the ranking system has yet to be implemented, so I find myself playing call of duty or minecraft, when I know I would be playing Halo MCC non-stop if it were simply possible to stay in a lobby, and play ranked game after ranked game with my friends. Will this one day be a possibility or should I angrily call Microsoft and demand my money back for my digital purchase of what is turning out to be the biggest gaming disappointment in the history of the industry?
- The only ranked playlist (H2A) has visible numbers that are nothing but empty, meaningless numbers. These numbers doesn’t symbolize a level of skill and match players with other players of the same level of skill. This is too complex for 343 Industries to comprehend. Hence, like I said, the “ranks” are nothing but empty numbers.- Even if the numbers did actually represent a level of skill, they would not serve its only purpose anyway, that is, to match similarly skilled players. 1’s matches 50’s.- Even if both problems above were fixed, it would not work since the game itself is broken, putting full teams against randoms, or starting games 2 vs 4, or 3 vs 5. This is not particularly awesome when playing ranked playlists.So, given my above arguments, why would you want more ranked playlists? 343 can not do today what Bungie and others could 10 years ago. MCC could have and would have brought Halo back to life if its launch was not a pathetic excuse to steal our money.
Ohh, and it is really cute the way you opened your post “Hi 343”, as if they read their customers feedback and requests. I would recommend you get your money back.
I didn’t play enough of the H2A (maybe rank 10?) to get a grasp of the ranking system because I preferred the classic version of multiplayer. I also didn’t do my research on the ranking system (or lack thereof). You, sir, have smeared the remaining bits of my hope for this game and thus ruined my day.

I don’t wish anyone to stop playing Halo, but myself being an incurable optimist, I feel like Halo brings me nothing but pain nowadays but I still play it in hope of better times. Being objective here, my advise for anyone who is not a die-hard Halo fan because of the awesomeness of Bungie, is to sell the game and have way more fun doing something else for your money. Heck, a 60$ night out is way more worth it than buying this piece of trash.
ITS WEIRD BECAUSE I FIND THAT THIS GAME HAS ALOT OF INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS MY RANK HAS BEEN RESET 4 TIMES , BUT THEN I RUN INTO PPL LVL 28 AND 30 HAVE THEY BEEN RESET? OR DO THEY JUST PLAY SO MUCH ? I DONT KNOW BUT ITS FRUSTRATING
Yeah, im 25, and Ive been reset 4 or 5 times before I understood these three problems: (1) if you quit, you loose 10 ranks, (2) if you get eset to 1, restart your xbox before playing as this will bring your rank back but if you play while reset, you will be reset, and (3), the people with high levels glitched their way up.
I miss the days of competitive online gaming. Halo 2 and Forza both had skill based ranking (ELO in Forza online races were very similar to True Skill system in Halo 2). Now the current forza doesn’t have that, and it did away with Car Class leaderboards that every forza before it had. Call of Duty matches Pros with noobs. Is there anything on xbox one that could be recommended if competitive and even matchmaking is desired?
So I just went and tried my best to get a refund for Halo MCC from microsoft support and came up with nothing. They won’t give it out. I was respectful yet voiced my concerns and issues (slightly exaggerated, but still truthful). They basically told me no. I did buy the game for the multiplayer, and I still have yet to be able to get a match with a lobby of friends, the whole reason I bought the game, and an xbox one. This is making me re-think my decision to go with microsoft for this console generation. It isn’t too late…

NOTHING WILL EVER BE WHAT THE ORIGINAL HALO 2 TRUE RANK SYSTEM WAS, AND COD IS A POINT BASED RANK SYSTEM PLAYERS ARENT MATCHED BY RANK OR SKILL THERE JUST MATCHED WIN OR LOSE YOU GET POINTS AND DO RANK UP NOT LIKE HALO WAS WHERE PLAYER AND TEAM PERFORMANCE WERE IMPORTANT BECAUSE YOU LOST RANK ASWELL … SO I HEAR YA HOPEFULLY THEY FIX ALL THE RANKING SYSTEMS FOR ALL GAMES IN MCC

TRUST ME I FEEL YOUR PAIN . BUT I WOULD NEVER SELL OUT ON MICROSOFT AND XBOX SOME OF US ARE DIEHARD DAY ONE MEMBERS WHO REMEMBER THE ORIGINAL ALL GREEN DASHBOARD AND HOLDING DOWN THE WHITE BUTTON TO TALK LOL MISS THOSE DAYS BUT I WILL BE HONEST BOTH SONY AND MICROSOFTS NEXT GEN CONSOLES ARE IN BAD SHAPE HAVE COME ALONG WAY BUT STILL HAVE A ROAD TO GO I BELIEVE IN THE XBOX ONE… THE 360 STILL HAS SUCH A LIFE SPAN XBOX ONE WILL SURPASS THAT WITH FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS DONT GIVE UP ON THE BOX MAN … THE GAME WAS A LESSON LEARNED BOTH INDUSTRIAL AND CONSUMER
I have been so patient with this game and xbox one in general. Im so done. I could go on for days but my biggest issue is no ranked playlists as well. Coming soon lol. Unranked is freakin boring, so instead of fixing the playlists they have and making them ranked and even, what do they do. They add team swat and some other 500 achievments bs update, wow that will do it! Achievments everyone, yes! Not to mention never being able to play even with one friend, xbox one constantly freezes and my kinect stop working one week after I bought it. Im so sick of playing Team Slayer also!!! Every bs playlist, BTB, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, H2A, Team Hardcore, Swat, everything gets voted Team Slayer, everything!!! How about 1 objective game every 30 games? Maybe just one? 343 ruined Halo.

If you paid with a credit or debit card, dispute the charge (or the portion of it that the Master Chief Collection cost) with your bank. They’ll ask you why you’re disputing it and if you tried to contact the merchant (the place you bought it) before contacting them. To answer these, just inform them that the product does not work, nor would a replacement, and that you have indeed tried to contact the seller to resolve it with them first, but they declined. And I also bought mine hoping to get into some nostalgic multiplayer but have been disappointed. Since 343 has a.) completely abandoned a tried-and-true Halo formula that worked for nearly 10 years with Bungie, and b.) sold us games that don’t work and that they either can’t or won’t fix, I will not be buying any more Halo products - guaranteed. This game has been been out for over 1 year and 3 months and I STILL can’t get into matchmaking - and sorry, 343, but I shouldn’t have to check a bunch of settings and crap to do it, since matchmaking worked fine 11 years ago and every other game today works just fine except yours.
