Ranking accuracy

So, I got my ranking in Open the other day. I was quite surprised to find that I landed in Platinum III.

Now, I would typically float around Platinum and Diamond in H5…and based on how much I was struggling in this game I was certain I’d be landing in Bronze or Silver for Infinite. I didn’t win (and still haven’t won) a single ranked game in open, and my individual stats are…not encouraging.

Has anyone else had the experience that they were surprised at their ranking based on how much they’re struggling in matches?

I was confused once I finished my first ten. I’m not convinced that, moving forward, I want to sweat as hard as I’ve been sweating in matches just to tread water, tbh.

Not sure. I ranked Diamond 1 as someone who used to rank Upper Diamond/Onyx/Champion in H5, but I was doing pretty bad by my standards at first. There’s no Champion anymore so the rankings are condensed a bit.
I do also know that your rank gain/loss is based on your individual performance as well. Maybe you didn’t do as bad as you thought you did? Or had low kills and high deaths but alot of assists?

Yes, I thought I’d be gold, but ended up in platinum. My aiming issues have really be screwing me over in this game.

Something to consider is that it’s relatively difficult to know without any pre existing information if a rank is good or not as we don’t have any information about median rank and anything similar to that. Platinum could either be good or bad rank and this is only dependent on how this rank compares to the rank of the general player population.
