i think to add more variety and longevity to Halo 5 we should have more maps in team slayer that include vehicles. i remember back in Halo 2/3 their were a ton of maps that had a ghost or a warthog at least in Team Slayer… they need to add more in Halo 5 would be great because 4v4 have more unique vehicle interactions than say BTB. just my 2 cents anyhow… i hope this tread is seen by 343
im not really sure how to comment on that. to be honest i am not from the old days of halo. maybe 3 years playing since the release of mcc but in my personal opinion, vehicles are just… well… i don’t now.
Outside of BTB, I doubt we’ll see vehicles in 4v4, Ranked or Social, ever again. What with Halo’s high emphasis on skill and competitiveness now.
No only on btb

I’ve been playing since Halo CE and even though Halo 5 is not near among the best Halo games and there’s very little that they’ve done ok with this game… not having Vehicles on Ranked 4v4 is one of the few things they did right.
Not sure that I’d say 2/3 had “tons” of 4v4 maps with vehicles. There were a few, but only a few, and every time I think I’ve thought of another it turns out to be a BTB map.
That said, I agree with you in the sense that Halo game play in general, and 4v4 game play specifically, just keeps getting more homogenous and more inflexible as time goes on. While vehicles wouldn’t necessarily be my solution for “mixing it up,” I can respect any suggestions anybody cares to make if it adds a little variety to things.
Maybe in Social, but not ranked.
Absolutely we should.
A couple vehicles on a couple maps here & there is a fundamental part of the sandbox, and was a huge appeal for players.
If there’s 1 thing that Halo has always been known & loved for, it’s the fun & balanced use of vehicular combat.

You can’t use the “it’s ranked” argument when it’s already AR starts (Halo 5’s version of the AR anyway. Previous games were a lot better balanced).
Right off the bat, the “competitive aspect” is outright laughable.
What’s more competitive: 2 warthogs and a laser on a Standoff or Valhalla style map, or AR starts on Overgrowth? Molten? Riptide?
With how noob friendly the current weapon balancing and maze-style map design is, even vehicular combat is vastly more skill oriented – at least then you’re playing on maps that have a single line of sight and you’re not spawning 10 feet from your enemy because he was “on a higher level”… directly above your head.
And anyway, this is TS, not HCS/MLG.
Ranked just means it’s somewhat competitive, it’s not meant as some “ultimate test of skill,” that’s literally the purpose of the HCS playlist.
Totally agree with the OP. Vehicles should still be available in every aspect of MP. But being that 343 had the brain dead idea to further split the community with Arena and Warzone they have damaged the game even further. I can appreciate a focus on competetive play in Arena, but I think they really missed the mark for MP, even worse then H4.
It’s pretty obvious why no vehicles exist in Arena. The maps are all built to accommodate Spartan abilities. But the most glaring and intrusive reason is easily -Yoinking!- REQ PACKS! Now if you want vehicular play you HAVE to play Warzone which I give ZERO -Yoinks!- ABOUT! And if you play that -Yoink- chances are your gonna buy REQ packs. Damn near all of H5 was designed to funnel players into Warzone. It’s all about money and it’s bull -Yoink-. Just one more brick on the enormous pile of -Yoink- that makes H5 not a real Halo game

Now that I think about it, Halo 3 did have some vehicles and it was pretty fun, so I vote a definite yes for Social, but still a no on ranked.

Fair enough, agree to disagree

As the old timers say, “that’s how they getcha.”
fair enough, some responses here i can totally understand why some of you are not pleased with vehicles in Halo in the multiplayer scene. i can understand why the dissatisfaction towards vehicles happen now especially after the mantis came into existence; they have almost turned into a bit of a crutch… but really if you played halo 2/3 or even combat evolved like me, you know that having vehicles was part of the game that made Halo what it was. their was so many maps that contained vehicles in small 4/4 maps… could actually name at least six or seven maps in the Team Slayer playlist right off the bat.
Zanzibar, (warthog, ghost, mongoose)
Last Resort (warthog, ghost, mongoose)
Snowbound (2 ghosts, mongoose))
headlong (banshee)
Rats Nest (2 warthogs)
Blood Gulch (warthog, scorpion, banshee)
Isolation (2 mongooses, Ghost)
Terminal (warthog)
Turf ( warthog)
Ascension (banshee)
ALL of which were in Team Slayer 4/4
and a couple others i can’t really remember that had a mongoose at least.
and the last two are perfect examples that even extremely small maps geographically they were still able to fit a vehicle on the map that made firefights a lot more dynamic than if their weren’t a vehicle on those maps. it really added so much variety and complexity in a Team Slayer 4vs4 mode. those were competitive modes and it created diversity among just trying to go for power weapons. the firefights and engagements when a vehicle was included made it something very different than other shooters at the time cough cough COD.!!! I’m sorry but Halo was all about vehicular gameplay!!! sure now having 8v8 vehicle maps ehh only doesn’t have quite the same feel as Team Slayer. I’m not saying we should have the whole sandbox of vehicles in Team Slayer but just having 1 or 2 like a mongoose or ghost would add lots of different styles of firefights and strategies that wouldn’t happen if their weren’t vehicles in these modes. & why haven’t they added popular throwback maps seriously 343!
Halo was all about vehicles and although 343put them in a playlist for BTB they should have included it in just some of the ranked Team slayer modes. their was nothing like driving around a warthog and dominating in a 4vs4 mode trust me it was awesome!!!..

Totally on board with that, but what I’m really waiting is throwback maps!!!
Give me Lockout and I’ll stop bringing it up. Until then I make no promises!..
I agree with the OP here. Vehicles should be in ranked 4-4 play. Maps like Zanzibar, Ascension, Standoff were great examples of 4-4 maps back in the day that did vehicle play well. Even something like Isolation where they had a few mongooses (and a ghost I know) on it was great! One strategy on Isolation was right off the bat someone get in the mongoose and drive down to Rockets bottom mid to try and get them.
Everyone who I encounter misses small vehicle play in 4-4. If pros don’t want vehicles, then simply remove them from those maps when they play. Pretty simple. Unfortunately, I don’t see this happening in the future but one can hope. If Warzone is back (such a waste of resources in my opinion) then I can all but guarantee it won’t happen as 343I will want players to go to that to get there vehicle fix. BTB wasn’t even in the game remember until forgers stepped in.
I don’t know. Most of the way Bungie implemented vehicles in maps was pretty poor imo. I’m not enthusiastic about the notion but I feel confident that there must be a slayer map or two that could add a Banshee or ghost or something.
no thank you. Vehicles are fun sure, but not competitive. they dont belong in ranked play in any form.

I somewhat agree with what you say. But you are forgetting this is Halo 5, the developer has moved on from “classic” Halo and introduced some new ideas that really don’t allow vehicles in 4v4.
Right off the bat the maps are designed (in some cases very poorly IMO) to allow players to sprint and clamber to cover a large distance or get to a higher point fairly quick .I don’t see how they could design a map that is tailored for ranked 4v4 with enough space for vehicles.
Like you mentioned, we get maps like Molten, Riptide and Overgrowth, those maps don’t even work well on 4v4. The maps 343 seems to be forced to design because of sprint (I can;t think of any other reason why H5 maps are mostly bad) is laughable, let’s not even bring vehicles into the equation without solving the previous problem first.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against vehicles in ranked slayer, I just thought 343 already has enough problems on their plate. I really don’t mind what happens with playlists like Slayer, Doubles, Warzone, etc… I just play HCS and FFA. So if H6 ranked slayer has a Scorpion and 6 warthogs great. As long as they deal with the real problems first.
Please no, those were always the most unbalanced matches in H3. Was much harder to kill vehicles as 4 people and you could get even more easily spawn killed.
