Ranked system is getting old, fast

How though?

You go in a Onyx player. You get matched against Onyx players. And you come out an Onyx player.

There is no journey.

We’re saying we enjoy the journey from the bottom ranks to the top in other competitive games. The Halo Infinite system isn’t setup that way, and that’s one problem we have with it.

I find it pretty accurate.
When I do well personally but still lose I go up a decent amount regardless of the team losing…it makes sense.

When my team won recently and I was at the bottom, I barely moved even tho we won…also made sense.

When I quit out a game unjustly… I plummeted …made sense…

When a team mate quit and then I eventually quit as well … lost nothing …it made sense.

When one player failed to even load in…and we still won…I went up a whole lot!!!..it makes sense.

Not downing your experience but it seems to be logical to me.

We’ve had very different experiences.

That would make sense if myself or my team mates were the highest CSR in every game, but we are usually outranked. The highest on my team is about 1900, but we consistently play teams that are at that CSR or higher. The whole point is though, if you lose against similarly ranked squads, you shouldn’t go down much. And if you lose to squads that average 200 csr above you, you probably shouldn’t go down anything really.

I just lost a game on AU server (because every -Yoink!- Aussie is forcing AU server now) I did the most damage on my team by an additional 50% to the next person. I had most kills, went positive, still lost because my team mates were mud, and I lost 14 ELO. Nevermind the 3 wins I just had that gave me 3 points.

This system is fkd.

Okay, but actual teams will have players take specific roles. Communication, Team Shotting, Objectives are all factors that aren’t taken into consideration with this system.

Whenever my team mate quit or crashes I always lose 10+ points.

When a player doesn’t load in, again, guaranteed 10+ point loss.

People need to stop defending this pile of ****

Cool bananas. Each to their own.

But out of curiosity - how long should they keep your rank hidden behind this slowly growing number? How many weeks? How many games?

People get uptight about having to wait 10 placement games…

And should they hide your opponent’s rank for that period as well. It’s a bit of a spoiler if all your opponents are showing up as Diamond.

And how do they spin it for season 2? Surely it’s a bit of a downer having to work your way back up to the rank you have already ground out.

I confess to not playing a lot of other games. How do they work around these issues?

you have no clue what you are talking about. I’m constantly in onyx lobbies ranging from 1600-2000, and there are usually lower ranks mixed in gold/plat/diamond etc… usually they are boosters. People who are purposely abusing the system.

for example i’ve had lobbies where i’m facing 1700, 1650, 1800, gold 3, end up winning the game and get 1 CSR for the win. This system is complete dog and needs to be reworked.

Yes this exactly, I went 8-3 on a small sesh with the boys and ended up -5 CSR from where i started. Nice system.

ive literally had lobbies where the entire team was 100 - 200 CSR higher than me and we lose and i drop 15 points, this is bullshiit.

I finally got Onyx in Open and I’m not planning on playing on it until they fix desync. That alone made getting there way harder than it was worth.

Aussie Aussie Aussie…

No, probably not from a Kiwi?

Would love to play on Aussie servers (Tasmanian here). All my team mates recently seem to speak Spanish. But at least they are using their mikes.

The system is fine. Or at least mostly. It would be silly to not expect some teething problems that require tweaking.

It looked like it was your second loss in a row after two wins for the day. And you probably didn’t meet the kills per minute need for any bonus.

And the important bit of that -9 MMR is not significant in the scheme of things. I don’t know what the acceptable margin of error is but I don’t it’s a relevant difference.

The system just can’t be that accurate.

You played 50 games and only lost 2. There’s no way the vast majority weren’t stacked largely in your favour.

Losses are not dictated on single games, but the overall picture. That’s why you get minimal gains for a win and larger losses for a loss even against higher rated opponents. Other players will play the same teams as you have and experience greater gains and smaller CSR losses.

You also play higher rated opponents than your own team if you’re in a party where possible.

You clearly think that’s how it works, but that’s just not the case… According to tracker I placed first and was only 41% odds to win. Gained 1 point.

The problem lies with smurf accounts and people abusing it while helping people boost. Smurf accounts dramatically decrease average CSR and put them at an automatic disadvantage so when they lose, they hardly lose anything, and when they win they gain a lot…

Theres a reason the majority of games in open always have a smurf account because it manipulates the system and artificially gives them an advantage when they win or lose, there is no downfall to running with a smurf account, it’s only positive for YOUR group but hinders everyone on the opposing team.

Someone needs to make this officially clear, because I’ve heard all sorts of things on why the gains and losses are happening in ranked the way they are. Up until now, I would have expected a gain or loss in ranked progression to be solely based on the match I just played.

Im not doubting what you are saying – but do you have a source for this view on how the system works?

I don’t think that’s how it works, that’s how it works.

I keep telling people this and they keep replying with a single game as evidence. Your CSR gains and losses are not determined solely by that game.

11-2 and I’m lower than where I started. This system is pure dog and everyone knows it.

games played = 39
Wins - 26
Losses - 13
Win rate - 66.67%
Starting CSR - 1518
Ending CSR - 1555

Solid System.

I’ve already explained this in the topic, but here you go again. Just replace 1800 with 1500 or w/e rank you are.

Wins are almost irrelevant when you’re stacking and playing average. The system has found a sweet spot for you. Your rank would go up quicker if you were performing better on a consistent basis.
