If the intention of them is to match you with players close to your own experience and skill level, it does a terrible job of doing so. To give an example of my most recent game:
My team:
Me - highest rank 8 in H2C, 110 matchmaking wins
Teammate 1 - highest rank 15 in H2C, 380 wins
Teammate 2 - highest rank 10 in H2C, 381 wins
Teammate 3 - highest rank 50 H2C, 489 wins
Other team
1 - highest rank 30 H2C, 891 wins
2 - highest rank 48 H2C, 1940 wins
3 - highest rank 28 H2C, 1359 wins
4 - highest rank 36 H2C, 1084 wins
So we end up with one team with an average rank of 35.5 and 1318.5 average wins, matched against a team with an average rank of 20.75 and average 340 wins.
Another game I had a team something similar to my team above, versus 3 rank 50’s and a 43.
Can someone explain how this is an example of a good ranking system?
What is the point of having a ranking system if it doesn’t work at all? Why not just do what BTB battle does, scrap the actual ranked numbers and literally grab the first 16 people it finds, skill level be -Yoink!-. It seems like that’s what it already does. Thanks, 343.
