Well, all i want to do in this topic is suggest how the playlists would work.
Ranked:
Your Game modes set to competitive settings. simple.
The Weapon Choice is restricted to either a BR or Carbine with 1 frag. that’s the extent of your customization, just preference.
Social:
Here there are two types of Social.
Social Classic:
Exactly the same as ranked, without being ranked.
Social Loadouts (bear with me):
The loadouts are merely an extended weapon pool.
Primaries:
AR/BR
CC/SR
New Medium Range Forerunner Precision Weapon (not LR)/Suppressor
Secondaries:
Magnum/SMG
Needle Pistol/Plasma Rifle
Hardlight Repeater (Based of ODST auto-mag, but fully automatic, 8 shot kill)
Infinity:
Now, While I would prefer no Infinity inclusion at all, I doubt it will happen, but I wont make any suggestions how that’s run.
Custom Game Search:
This would work like the File Browser. Type in tag, up pop results. except players that wish to open the lobby to the Custom Game search will have to apply tags before opening. Additionally, perhaps Kinect could be an optional way to quickly search for tags?
Firefight:
There can’t be any argument, this needs to comeback.
Spartan Ops:
Inferior to Firefight, enough said. but let it be retained for the sake that some Firefight maps could be based on locations within Spartan Ops. This means when a new season pops up, new Firefight maps can to!
Thoughts?
While I am all for having Ranked and Social playlists, I don’t see anything new and exciting in your list. Halo should be about innovating the way an FPS is played and everything you listed is just refining what we saw in previous Halo installments. I want Halo to be refined and innovated. Spartan Ops was an attempt at this and it didn’t work nor was it worth the money. I want 343i to still try something new, as long as it doesn’t mess with the mechanics like Halo 4 did.

Do you really need to innovate on a matchmaking selection system? I think the coolest thing I suggested Is a fan favourite already, Custom Game search.
It was more about what it should look like, than what we can do. change for the sake of change has not proved good for halo so far

Fair point. I was thinking more so innovation in the actual gameplay itself and took that into the selection system. A custom game search would be very nice. I guess I don’t have too much to say on the selection system then other than I can agree with how you have it. Most of my complaints coming to mind deal with the UI so I will keep them to myself as that doesn’t pertain to this thread.
Ranked
Default (Loadouts, no sprint, no flinch, no yadda yadda).
Classic (One-Gun, tweaked weapons).
Competitive/Snipers/SWAT/Other Niche Games
Social
Default
Classic
Infinity (Ordnance, Sprint among whatever people want from this).
Action Sack / Flood / Bla Bla

No. No, no, no, no, no, nooooooo.
Let me explain. I do not think it is a good idea at all to simply make Halo 5 Matchmaking into half Halo 3 matchmaking (“Ranked”) and half Halo 4 matchmaking (“Social”). It’s not new at all and Halo is not taking any step forward at all. We need to find what worked from both games and combine them to make the best game. There were things that worked in Halo 4 and things that could be reworked and there were things in Halo 3 that worked and things that could be reworked. There is a balance that still leaves room for innovation and we just have to keep trying until we find it.

I’m not doing that…?
Having a classic playlist available isn’t splitting the game in half.
I even put default and classic in BOTH ranked and social.
Infinity, if it returns, should not be ranked. It’s simply not competitive.
> We need to find what worked from both games and combine them to make the best game.
I agree…? However I feel loadouts were the only new concept that actually has potential (outside of weapon skins, hitmarkers, and other non-gameplay aspects). Which is why they were the only thing I left in.
The OP’s list was more like
Ranked:
Classic
Social:
Classic
Loadouts
Infinity Garbage

But I thought Halo 3 had ranked and social playlists?
> But I thought Halo 3 had ranked and social playlists?
Yes, but the settings of the gametypes were exactly the same in both ranked and social. They weren’t completely different.
