Ranked should not have hcs settings. Oast halos did not cater to the mlg/esports crowd
Stop catering to them.
The real fix here would be for them to add more ranked playlists with different settings.
Which settings should they be? Ranked is the competitive playlist.
Exactly. The real issue is once again just a lack of content. There should be ranked HCS of course, but also ranked versions of regular team slayer and team objective, along with a lone wolves and doubles playlist.
FULL STOP.
Ranked should be HCS. In fact it shouldn’t even be called ranked. It should be called HCS.
There should never be a radar in ranked.
I don’t like BR starts but ranked shouldn’t be AR starts in any compacity
Ranked 4v4
Ranked 2v2
Ranked FFA
Ranked slayer
Ranked swat.
That’s it. We don’t need an objective. There is already quick play
Why not?
No, they fueled them and spurred the movement in a grassroots fashion.
Ranked is the competitive mode…it should have the official competitive settings. Go back to unranked if you don’t like it.
Sorry, why would you. It want ranked objective? HCS is literally objective matches. I’m good with the other gametypes, but there should definitely be an ranked objective playlist
The issue is there is no progression in quickplay/social. I see no issue with adding additional playlists
That’s a F2P battlepass design garbage and has nothing to do with ranked.
What are you talking about? Ranked has progression in the form of levels - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Onyx…
Social has nothing to keep you going, and show progression
Your progression is the battlepass.
that’s just cosmetics. This isn’t hard to understand why people want to play for ranked progression
Literally the meaning of progression “the process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state.”
Halo 3 did it right, and that’s why many fans always bring it up as the high point.
Social settings
Ranked (competitive light where it’s mainly just your load out that changed)
Hard-core (mlg) where it uses the tournament settings.
many people don’t even realize this at all. We’re talking base movement speed being different…shield regeneration rate different…damage percentage different…motion tracker disabled…set maps, load out, weapon pick ups and ammo count…that made even ranked and mlg play extremely different. At the end of the day it kept people happy. You got exactly what you wanted out of it. Right now the settings aren’t different enough from each other. It’s the exact reason for social never feeling social to players. It’s not just the behind the scenes sbmm.
There is no such thing as Social without infection and grifball and action sack. You can’t remove half the ablities and then call it toned down gameplay. It’s not. Halo infinite by design is sweaty
The settings themselves are different for social and mlg and even ranked in halo 3. Here is a prime example if why a social match of slayer is different than an mlg match
Mlg
- base movement speed 110%. Harder to hit a faster moving target without strafe acceleration build up. True or false?
- damage 110%…you die faster.
- regeneration rate 90%. It takes your shields longer to recharge, making it harder to hide when you’re 1 shot.
The rest of the changes were load outs, motion tracker etc. This stuff we see differentiated in infinite, but not the first 3.
Social
- default base movement speed. Easier to hit a slower target with slower strafe acceleration. True or false?
- damage default. You survive longer.
- shield regeneration default. You can get away and recharge shields faster, and hop back into battle.
You get the point right? Fyi as well…ranked followed the exact settings of social for base movement speed, damage, shield recharge rate, and has a motion tracker in most Playlist. It just changed the load out to BR start. This is the epitome of a classic fan saying they enjoyed the “chess” aspect of halo. It reduces the skill Gap in things like raw skill aiming and strafing…which is great for social imho…it makes the matches fun…where if a really good player is playing in a social match…it isn’t this enormous amount of kills only due to aim and strafe skill. It mainly comes from decision making, spawn awareness and the other factors.
So why is that good for social? Because it gives the lesser talented players a chance to have fun with their higher talented friends. It by default makes the matches less competitive, and more social…and when it’s people playing their own skill level, much more enjoyable social setting.
If we love competitive, give us hcs as our home. This nonsense I’ve heard from others…
"If you make too many Playlist it splits the population "
This is most stupid thing I can ever see someone say. Allow people to play what they want, and more total players stay in the game. What’s better…splitting the population by allowing them to play wth they want finally ? Or losing chunks of the population because they’re frustrated with what the game has…now there isn’t even a population to split anymore. Hello halo 5. We’ve experienced this with you.
This last part isn’t because I’ve read you say this. It’s because I anticipate it from someone. It always happens.
You forget that this isn’t Halo 3. You can’t have a social match on regular game modes anymore.
Why? Because of Sprint. Any Halo with Sprint in it is a sweat fest. Nothing casual about sprinting.
Also no. Too many playlists does split the player base. It’s not like this game is brimming with a half mil of players.
HCS should be ranked. If it’s not HCS then it’s not ranked.
What are you suggesting for a ranked non HCS playlist? That it has radar? That it has at and pistol starts? Because that’s the only difference between ranked and social right now. And wether it’s HCS or not a ranked playlist should never have a radar or AR
It should be this.
Ranked 4v4
Ranked 2v2
Ranked FFA
Ranked swat
Ranked slayer
Quick play
Btb
Event playlist
That’s it.
It’s not brimming with that population BECAUSE of everything I said. We experienced this BEFORE with halo 5…history JUST repeated itself.
Sprint has nothing to do with it…sprint isn’t even as strong as it was before…are you really going to sit here and tell me halo 4 was a hyper competitive game because it had sprint in it? No right? That would be really foolish to try and use that as an example of competitive…but is sure had sprint right?
The old games had a population counter…you could see how many players were in what Playlist. Like dude…let people play wth they want. That’s all this game needs. The amount of total Playlist isn’t my argument either. No one’s asking for 100 Playlists. All I play is competitive.
You just illustrated the problem with ranked and social. The only differences are the exact reasons why it suffers. Like bro did you even digest anything I mentioned about the other settings like BMS and damage? Did you play halo 3? Did halo 3 not have an enormous population that had tons of healthy match making? Did you ever look at how small the population was for the mlg Playlist in comparison to all the other Playlist?
I’ve said nothing about AR pistol starts for ranked (non hcs). I even stated in h3 the default ranked was BR. Its the other settings that matter…the ones that have totally gone over your head to the point where you haven’t mentioned them in your reply.
Go play halo 3 and halo reach right now. FEEL the difference between the default settings, and the mlg competitive settings…I’m not telling you to fire the gun in your hand…just move around…then you’ll INSTANTLY get the point. The moment you get into a 1v1 and strafe and feel the difference between the 2 is the moment all of this will make sense to you.
So your saying a ranked and HCS playlist should have different movement?
But what if I want HCS movement in other ranked modes?
And what movement changes are you suggesting?
