Ranked is a joke also rn it is much more punishing than any other game with a ranking system and even when you do win multiple times in a row you may not get anything because your hidden MMR matter more than the progress you have been able to make as a player. The point can be made that the system helps keep players where they belong but why not let that happen naturally as they climb in ranks you will meet people who are better and will knock you down some CSR. At this point, there is no reason to even play halo because of the little fun I had with this game is had in ranked but even when I work hard I don’t gain anything so what is the point of playing at all. devs say they are working on new things but the base that’s out is falling apart and nothing is being done to change or save it. you can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig new things and updates are not going to fix the problems that are destroying the only loyal players left to experience it.
And without ranked I may not even play anymore honestly because you can never actually grow, I guess to appeal more to the casual person playing the game even though they don’t make up even a fraction of halo community
I don’t play a lot of other games. Which ones in particular and why?

Your MMR isn’t hidden. Your CSR does a pretty good job of “chasing” it. By the time you get to 30 plus games into the season they are pretty much the same. Your CSR just tends to oscillate a bit around your MMR - but only by 15 or so points.

It doesn’t matter how many times you win or lose in a row. If you want to rank up you need to beat the teams ranked above you. Streaks of games vs teams ranked below don’t (and shouldn’t) help.
The point is that the system ranks you according to your skill.
It’s actually quite hard to improve once you hit your skill ceiling. Like any life skill. It can take weeks to months of effort to make small gains.
That what the system aims to do. It may be struggling a bit at the moment with the relatively low population though. You will get games a bit above and a bit below your level. Consistently win those above your pay grade and your MMR will climb. Do it with a solid kpm and it will climb a little bit faster.
Essentially what you are describing is happening. If and when the system gives you a game vs a harder opponent you are probably losing. Or at least not hitting the 50:50 benchmark… so your MMR is reluctant to move up.
We definitely need some sort of XP rank to reward players for working hard.
As for your rank… there is a difference between “working hard” to maintain your peak performance… and actually improving your skill performance.
We all have our fingers crossed for Forge leading into Season 3. But it seems so long away…
Eh ranked has been pretty chalked today. Bunch of people talking about it in this one pro’s stream tonight too. Had some matches earlier winning 6 in a row, no gain, & the other team mmr was either the same or higher. Guess it’s just one of those days lol
It feels hidden because why match me against lower people and waste my time cuz im not getting anything even if i win
How many games do i have to play and when i do win against higher people with lower on my team i still dont go up in rank so the way the system works is really not working at all. How am I expected to improve if the ranking system works like this because there is nothing you can do to gain if you are constantly winning and gaining nothing
