I have looked and haven’t found a clear answer to this question. Sorry if I missed something.
Is the Team Slayer playlist ranked? As someone who loves classic slayer in a ranked playlist I was initially concerned that the Arena playlist was a mix of different gametypes. I assumed that this meant that the only way to play ranked was in this arena playlist, but some other posts have made it sound like the Team Slayer playlist would also be ranked. Has 343 verified this?
Just my opinion, but I know there is a large part of the community that loves ranked objective gametypes, and another part of the community that loves ranked classic slayer. I have absolutely no clue why they couldn’t just make two separate playlists at launch.
I really like the way they are going with the ranking system, I just hope I can use it in Team Slayer. (Although I am also a little upset that the Team Slayer playlist is AR/pistol start. But I know 343 is trying to make the pistol more relevant, so I will be fine with that as long as they are willing to add BR starts if this is what the community wants.)
I am trying to not make this post too long, but if the Team Slayer playlist is actually ranked, I feel like there should be a casual playlist as well. Sometimes I get on and play with some friends that are terrible, and I would like to be able to do this without affecting my rank.
yea I was confused as to why there isn’t a social / unranked slayer playlist. seems like all we have is 4 ranked playlists and then 2 warzone playlists, I figured if anything there would be one unranked / social slayer playlist.

That is why I am confused. I initially assumed that the lack of a casual playlist meant that the Team Slayer playlist was going to be considered the casual playlist and would not be ranked.
I hope I am wrong, because to me Halo is a 4v4 balanced, competitive shooter. The lack of ranks (and other things) is what made me stop playing Halo 4, and is one of the reasons why other shooters like COD and Destiny don’t have much replay value for me. Knowing that whether my team wins or loses matters is what makes Halo great.
I will be very disappointed if the only way to get this ranked / competitive experience is in a playlist with Breakout and other objective gametypes.
Yes Team Slayer will have the ranking system applied, The only playlist as far as I know which has no ranks that are visible anyway is Warzone everything else at launch is ranked as far as I know.
If it’s in Arena, it is ranked. Josh answered that directly when I posed the same question (why no social slayer?) You can see it over in the 'Do the Devs even read and…" thread.
It’s kind of disappointing, but it looks like if you’re playing with friends you don’t want to affect your rank, you have to play Warzone. At least during the week.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I was getting confused because I thought that the only thing considered “Arena” was the “Team Arena” playlist. But it appears that Slayer, Breakout, Free-for-All, and Swat playlists all fall under the “Arena” title?
So based on this, someone could theoretically be Semi-pro in Slayer, Gold in Free-for-All, and Onyx in Team Arena?

yep that’s what I’ve understood from the different playlist post and ranking posts from a while back.

Make another account, takes like 1 minute.
Anyways, my squad is debating Slayer or Team Arena because Arena has Breakout which is stupid. Then Slayer has only 6 maps. I don’t know what to tryhard in
