Has any info been released about the way rankings will work? I’ve been playing halo 5 the last few weeks to try and get used to sprint, and I am rank diamond 2, but I’m definitely not good enough to be there. This ranking system is terrible. I have gone x-15 negative badly like 5 games in a row, but my team carries me and I’m ranking up! It’s a -Yoinking!- joke. I don’t want to be bringing these good players down, but I just keep getting matched with good teams and it’s terrible. I’m not enjoying it at all. The rank doesn’t look at skill just wins despite being called a skill rank. I just hope infinite isn’t the same.

I have the opposite problem… I’m ranking with bad teams and can’t climb up.
Having players in my team ‘ranked’ much higher going -10 or more!
But that is the nature of any ranking system and low population.
And yes… your CSR is only dependant on a win or a loss. So you can be carried by a good team (or dragged down by a bad one). But that is the way team games work - in all sports. In the background your MMR does look at individual performance and it slows the momentum of your CSR… and should act quickly to bring it into line when the results fall the other way.
But again. Population. Don’t judge what is happening in H5. It will be a lot better in Infinite.

Sadly there’s no normal FFA in halo 5, so I can’t do that either. I’ve always been good a ffa and bad at teams
I get it though, hopefully my rank sorts itself out asap because I literally wanted to cry today after a session haha. Got creamed so badly.
Yeah the low population of Halo 5 does make for a lot of imbalanced games. You’ll often get matched with people who are way better or way worse than you and the system wasn’t really designed for this. They haven’t said exactly how the ranking system of Halo Infinite has but my bet is it’ll be somewhat similar to Halo 5. Any ranking system or SBMM will work better with a larger pool of players to choose from so Infinite should definitely be a much better ranked experience out of the gate. Hopefully the game can maintain a healthy population for a long time. With it being free to play multiplayer it should be able to do so quite easily.
