I’m here to discuss some recent encounters with ranked multi-player. After playing my 10 matches, I’ve obtained an arguable Gold IV. I have a relative that I can easily best in 1v1 who placed Platnium II. Brush off the frustration and move on. I’ll rank up in no time.
I play a couple matches after placement and notice my rank was mostly stagnant. I decided to keep a record of my performance from here on out. Next game is slayer. We lose, 49-50. I held a decent KD of +12.7. Best one in that match actually. Post game shows my rank dropped. My progress bar to Gold V is red! Okay, that’s odd. Next match is oddball. We lose round 1, but won the next 2 rounds, this time winning the match altogether. For sure, I should advanced. I performed pretty good this time. Stats were: 20 kills, 9 death, 10 assists, 51% accuracy, and even 1:38 as ball holder. I was top player again, and even won this match. Surely my rank will increase. But when i checked, my red progress bar was even greater. My progression dropped, and I was further away from gold V.
I could go on with more matches I played and possibly playing better than the average player, but the general consensus here, is my progression is stagnant or decreasing. Is my individual rank REALLY determined by performance of the team, and not my performance??? I mean, the gold IV rank is for me, right? If it’s me as a TEAM PLAYER, then I guess I have to be a pretty heavy metal sweaty player.
Maybe I could get a better explanation of how ranking works. Something needs to change.
