I want to believe that Infinite’s population is very high. But when you match with the same people even after waiting about 5 minutes to start the search again, makes you wonder. I love BR/DMR starts so I want to enjoy the playlist. But playing with the same people again and again? At some point you get annoyed fighting the same person, especially if they never miss a flippin shot.
I usually find myself playing with a couple players from the previous match, which makes me think the population is low.
A lot of people don’t seem to realize that we actually have like 5 or 6 ranked “playlists” thanks to the search filters.
Even still, I would hope the population isn’t so low that your playing with the same folks. I’ve not really noticed this myself, but I don’t really pay that close attention.

There is no search filter in Infinite.
2 big issues i have with ranked is how it decides your rank and how they treat ranked… from my 10 matches i got diamond 1 and 7 matches after i was diamond 3 im a solo and iv stalled out at diamond 5 i always check and since i hit 5 i have had 0 ONYX teammates and infact on the enemy team iv been seeing nothing but ONYX players so why dosent the game just give me the rank already ?
probably because i lose most matches i play thanks to having gold teammates that are just their for the challenge XP

I almost want to believe the low pop is because of so many people DC’ing that there is just so few players lol. Whatever the real issue may be, it’s probably nothing to be too concerned about, given that Christmas just passed, some who were looking forward to other games may have migrated out to go play them till they get bored and then they’ll probably be back.
There may also be server issues so some grids may be down, meaning you’re only going to run into those who are on your server grid. A common issue during the holiday season since so many people come and go.
I’m talking about the party size and input options.
I’m not surprised to see that ranked population is getting lower, Br starts is the only thing i like about ranked, social is better in every other way
I almost never match with the same people. Maybe once or twice since the game launched.
I play Ranked less now because I am VERY tired of the lack of progression.

I actually don’t mind the playlist, but got tired of unbalanced matches. I go from fighting high platinum/diamond players and getting stomped on, to stomping low gold/silver players. Made me feel like the game was picking winners, which was no fun at all.

Doubt it’s dropped too much but the general population on Steam has recently dropped nearly 50% recently so that might explain the longer wait times.

Alright let’s do some math here: on the weekday nights there’s about 30k people average playing Halo infinite in general. Let’s assume 8k are playing ranked. IF you’re onyx and above that’s about 7% of all ranked players. So 7% of 8k is only 560 onyx players total…
