I just got destroyed by an onyx, a Plat 2, and Plat 3 player against the 2 plats on my team and myself which I’m not even qualified yet. I’m on game 7 of 10
I’m about done with this game. Literally about everything in this game is broke from this to latency issues to desync. It’ll easily take 1 year to get this game to a complete state. And that sucks I love halo so much but there’s no denying it’s losing players… ALOT of players as the days progress.
That’s pretty much my experience with Ranked. Either I’m up against diamonds and platinums with only 3 players on my team, or I’ve got diamond on my team and we’re fighting bronze and unranked people. I get fairer matches in quick play, by a mile. Feels like the game is just picking winners.
Don’t get discouraged. Take it as a good sign that you might place Diamond 1. The goal is to reach Onyx so if youre playing against Onyx in placement matches youre off to a good start. Unless youre just trying to a get a challenge for winning Ranked Slayed games then thats rough LOL
I’m not even sure how to see the ranks of other players. Having said that, I’ve never had a grossly unbalanced match. Most have been relatively close, if not really close.
Your opponents in those first 10 matches kind of swing a bit because it’s trying to gage where you should be placed to have decent matches. You may have had some good performances maybe prior to such a match. Playing alone gets some pretty random results though to be honest dude. I really don’t like to play alone. It’s just not fun. Hardly anyone is ever on though so I’m stuck messing around in custom games or just endlessly shooting bots lol
When I do play with friends the matches are sometimes pretty epic. Very close. The type of matches that still feel amazing to have played even in a loss…but then there’s the occasional blowout matches of either our team way too favored to win or the other team. Which I don’t get…like…I know we don’t live in a perfect world but…there should be enough players to have that happen much less I’d at least like to think.
Go take a look at your games in halotracker.com. It’s not just doing it for placement. If you had a game where you went off, its most likely because your playing a game where you’re ranked 6+ levels abover your teamates and or opponents. This is a common trend I see when I review my games and teamates.
I don’t play ranked all that much. But I am Plat 2 in kbm and controller. I feel i’m getting burnt having sub 10 ping for the majority of my matches yet ill watch 8-9 shots from a br land and get hit markers on the opponents and not kill them. Desync is destroying the game. People who arent suffering the desync issues are benefiting majorly. Add to it the unbalanced way matchmaking works, you’re being pitted against players 6+ levels above your skill level, this is very bad because the lower level players don’t usually understand the advanced movements, and tend to frequent the path more frequently traveled, add to that their lesser accuracy and ability to snap to targets. Ranked is in a bad state at the moment and needs major work.
I mean, you aren’t wrong. Multiplayer was released at least 8 to 12 months too early by best estimates. Campaign was probably released 3-6 months too early with some of the bugs and glitches they are seeing, and the fact it was released without a multiplayer or forge mode.
A lot of what we are seeing could have been worked out from a longer shakedown period and better stress testing with servers.
The fact they don’t know why big teams is having such an issue, is an issue in and of itself and only proves they weren’t ready to release multiplayer yet.
I understand they plan on this being a 10-year project, but that doesn’t mean they should get excused for what has been released. Whether it is because of 343 themselves, or Microsoft, or a combination of the two, they get to own this.
Yeah, you’re 100% right. I feel they should have invested more money upfront in getting the bugs and other issues worked out before they worried about monotization. That part is easy. I mean they could have made the armor packs and such and had it all ready to go. But releasing the battle pas and such should have waited until the game was more playable.
Custom games not even working right, you can’t change settings, or save a game and have it load reliably. Its just an epic let down at this point, and if they don’t get these major issues sorted in roughly 5 months I feel the game will decline rapidly and have the playerbase that MCC does currently.
I am curious how the match-up algorithm works, because I have looked on Halo Tracker and found games where I was low Platinum as was my team yet we were placed against people who were in upper platinum to mid diamond. No wonder my team lost horribly…
The lobby changes a lot for me cause I play with people lf different skill levels. My own performance is just bad sometimes too. Part of being human. Had lots of matches with 100+ ping last night. Idk why butt after the update its been bad ping most matches.
The match has 1 team favored to win before it begins. When you beat the odds stacked against you, you rank up more especially if you performed well. I only get bad lopsided matches when I play with my friends in onyx 1700-1900s, or if someone new joins us and they’re like brand new to halo. The matches scape up and that player is the one playing people 6+ levels above them. I’m assuming it’s to discourage using low ranked accounts from boosting the higher ranked players by giving them easier MM, but for the actual new players it ends up being a terrible experience.
On the rare occasions I play alone I get usually players sometimes a little below or above my rating. Sometimes it favors the opposite team, sometimes it favors mine. When you have a P5 player destroying the onyx player in the lobby though…you can clearly tell that the rank indicator itself isn’t the end all be all, and that players sometimes aren’t anywhere near their true rating yet.
Consequently, some are over ranked. Played a big during initial release and got a good placement and easier matches before the system had people’s skills accurately rates. Normal for a new game, but looks bad as we play through these matches.
I’m not saying it makes sense for every single case, but this is what I’ve noticed whenever I play new games and the ranking system is under initial scrutiny
Is anyone fixing this issue? It only seems to get worse. I am not logging into this game until I see a reply its better. Game devs are clueless when it comes to ranked matchmaking. Prove us wrong or stop making games.
Is it just me… or does Ranked NEVER actually put you with people of similar skill in any game ever?
For example, Rainbow Six Siege. I get put in High Gold… and yet I almost always get placed in lobbies with Diamonds and the occasional champion player.
Rank is not the same as skill. That is the whole problem, the game DOES put you in games with about the same skill, it’s just that the ranks are not the same.
