It’s rigged by definition. That’s just how it has to work. Even the teams and hopefully even the results.
As for H5 vs Infinite at the moment - H5 will have a stable population of fans. And the spread into ranks each Season should follow a predictable pattern. It’s no surprise that your experience there is consistent.
Infinite has had a (further) drop in population since the Season started. That’s going to mess with the ranking. There is a lot of ranking debt just sitting there. And it sounds like some people are ranked into certain pockets of population that seem to be caught in more frustrating ranks spreads than others.
As far as we know TrueSkill is implemented the same in both games.
And the CSR is similar. Halo 5 had different rules on CSR gains as you climbed the ladder - which they haven’t implemented yet. I thought they were going to after Season 1.1, but they obviously decided to wait and see - and well, it hasn’t gone well from there.
One thing I’m sure people haven’t tuned into though is the likelihood that each game mode has it’s own MMR (eg. Oddball). And that your CSR follows an average MMR of all those game modes. If there is a mode that you don’t like, or don’t do well in, you could have a bad time if you hit a run of those games. Or if you have a bad match in a game mode you normally do really well in - that could harm your rank more than a loss in an average mode.
And that could be another reason H5 (just Slayer) feels different to Infinite.
Ugh, I hate that you’re right. I guess it’s a real test of mettle then, but I wish it FELT that way. Not doable if over half my team is negative and over half their team isn’t!
If they can’t fix it, the game will struggle forever.
What gets me is why it’s happening here, but not in MCC?
It’s worse for me. With the playerbase dying down to 4 digits, The only people I get to play with are in EU/AU/US servers. Ping never drops down below 192. I’ve pretty much abandoned ranked and just stick to Fiesta.
The frustration is real fellow Spartan. Solo wiring is even more insane when the game starts and you ask “who got mics” and a couple people say something and then are silent until the end of the match. Like what?
I play it specifically because it’s the one place to play BR starts consistently. I stopped caring about my 4v4 rank honestly, the open playlist is scuffed with all the issues and I couldn’t break the rank level I reached in doubles since it’s slayer-exclusive
