I don’t agree with you my friend. Ranked is ranked I now there shoud be ranked slayer but just because there isn’t one it’s not okay if you leave the game and people should be punished for that and players that are still in the game shouldn’t lose any points. If you don’t wanna play flags , strongholds etc. don’t play ranked right now. But I know that some people don’t leave but the game just crushes. It happens rarely to me (but if it do it gives me -25 like it’s my fault the game crashed on XBOX series X) but my brother that’s playing on PC got crush evry now and than I would say every 10 games he get 1 crush.
The Rank system is absolutely broken and senseless.
During NUMEROUS viewings I have watched solo players on Twitch go from Unranked to Platinum – and sometimes to Diamond – after a series of losses and negative K/D during their Unranked matches. I have seen this happen so many times that I can easily find at least one such stream every time I view Twitch. Why the hell is this happening? It is ridiculous. I saw it happen again TWICE tonight.
Then there are players like myself who are locked into Gold rank regardless of how many matches are played. After one or two good matches the algorithm determines I am a slayer god and sends multiple Platinum enemies and occasionally even an Onyx enemy over the course of several matches. Every point of rank up earned during hours of play is lost quickly.
The disappointment and frustration is becoming unbearable. It is nearly at the point where I do not want to play Ranked anymore due to the poorly implemented Rank system.
I think that the fact that there is only 1 ranked playlist is a joke. It completely limits the experience in all aspects. Halo 3 ranked playlist were amazing because there were multiple different playlist to play which in return creates more opportunities for the gamer to rank up, find better teammates, etc. And personally my favorite ranked playlist was LONE WOLVES. You guys are isolating us to a poor ranking system that levels us down when people quit and on top of that you have only given us 1 playlist with very limited maps. I feel you guys have had plenty of time to do better than this. #bring LONEWOLVES back!
I don’t want to play ranked but it’s the only mode in infinite with a player progression.
The game is a mess, don’t blame the players.
It feels like ranked matches are on another server than social matches. On the same evening i play 2 social matchtes, connection is good or ok and hit registration works well. I change the playlist ranked and nearby every match has bas connection, hit registration nit working, desync.
And on top of that, a ranking system that treats every gamemode if it was slayer. No matter if you play oddball, stronghold, CTF, even if you win, to get more rank point you need to have a lot more kills than deaths.
It doesnt matter that you captured 18 bases in stronghold and won the match, you did 0.7 k/d? You dont a lot of rank points. The other team member only 8 captures but 1.5 k/d in this match? Yes, he deserves a lot of rank points.
An then people wonder why the population of halo infinite shrinks.
1st. If you are below plat 1 I would say 6-7hours on the game makes sense for your teammates.
2nd Halo is a team game and the win loss bonus’s or deduction are an attempt to measure the intangible concept of teamwork
3rd you loose at a massive reduction so let’s say you derank half way thru a rank with 4 players you would do about a quarter with 3 players.
4th people have lives out side halo and need to be quitting games to actually go and like do things per say
@343 WHEN ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO FIX RANKED! No one cares about BTB, or this other stuff you guys are fixing. These are minimal to the longevity of the game. The game stays relative due to the ranked progression system. However, as many others have described the ranking system is BUSTED. I have uninstalled this game twice, and will not re-install until I see a ranked update that fixes the progression system.
I can win 10 games, and move up 10 pts. I can then lose one and go down 15pts. With going positive in each game. Why is it that most of the game types are objective, yet you only reward for K/D? I have not talked to a single person from 1500 onyx to 1700 onyx that has not experienced the EXACT SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE KNOWN ISSUE AND IT HAS YET TO BE ACKNOWLEDGE BY @343.
How can you provide so much attention to events, and BTB without focusing ON TH EPLAYERS THAT KEEP THIS GAME ALIVE. CASUAL PLAYERS DO NOT KEEP THIS GAME ALIVE! I DONT REMEMBER CASUAL PLAYERS KEEPING H5 ALIVE WITH ITS ABYSMAL 5k MONTHLY ACTIVE PLAYERS!
Unless you want to run yet another game into the ground since BUNGIE left you to your own devices, I suggest you get your shhhh together and fix the most complained about issue in Halo. RANK PROGRESSION. Also check out the REDDIT post where a player exposed the broken/hidden MMR system.

Yup… ranked is 100% meaningless and broken with how everything in the game affects a singular MMR rating that is used to determine your “rank” in the ranked modes.

Want to get Onyx 2000? Just grind out tons of games in bot bootcamp where you get no kills and let the bots dump on you, then go play ranked.
This is majorly problematic, and explains a lot. Clearly it resonates as that thread was posted 15 hours ago with over 1,000 comments as of right now.
I’m not sure that thread is really telling us anything new.
- We know that the playlists share MMR data (with offsets for each playlist).
- We know that if you enter a new playlist then the system assumes a starting MMR from a similar playlist.
So, yes. You can bump your MMR up in social or bots and go into ranked with all guns blazing.
But TrueSkill2 will get to work pretty quickly on finding your proper ranking.
Would that really work in practice?
You would head into ranked with a high MMR… but the system will be trying to pull your MMR and CSR back together as quickly as possible… and if you aren’t performing as an Onyx 2000 you are going to drop MMR very quickly.
If TrueSkill hasn’t found your true rank before the end of the placement games it will do shortly after. Well before you move it very far from Diamond 1.
And I think we need to be very cautious here.
People are frustrated with the way the game presents changes in your CSR. And I get that.
This doesn’t mean the way it deals with MMR (the ranking) is broken.
And just because people find some weird exploits (eg. getting a Bot rank and then carrying it over into ranked) - it doesn’t mean you have to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
One of the top comments is basically saying an player shouldn’t perform well in other playlists if they want to have an easier climb in ranked (paraphrased). I had this exact conclusion as well, which is why I think we need a response to clarify what is actually going on.
What we currently have as “Ranked” is what MLG was in H3. And I agree we need other playlist. Doubles was probably one of my favorites.
Yes. The only question would be how many bot matches you would need to grind. You couldn’t go straight from bot matches to onyx 2000, but you could repeatedly manipulate your CSR by tanking your MMR repeatedly in bot matches. It would just take trial and error to figure out a ratio of ranked games to bot games. That’s what the reddit thread is pointing out.

There is nothing to clarify. They need to fix it. Hundreds of people have made new accounts and tested this flawed system, myself included. Universal MMR in Halo is a stupid implementation. Let alone allowing social playlist and BOT playlist affect your hidden MMR.
I guess if you artificially lower your MMR you could get some easier games which would allow you to rank up faster - at least initially.
But I don’t see how this is going to help you earn and maintain your best rank.

I thought people were smashing the bots on a new account, getting an inflated MMR, and then trying to carry this through to ranked?
Which wouldn’t really work as your “below par” performance in placement and soon after will cause your MMR to plummet.
If you do it the other way around and tank your MMR via bots (or social) how does that help? You would, at least briefly, attract lower ranked opponents… so you can grind your CSR a bit. But your MMR would come up pretty quickly.
Or are people planning to repeatedly grind bots and ranked back and forth?

I think this really just puts the spotlight back on the real problem - we are artificially inflating the value / accuracy of the CSR. Is it worth all this effort for a handful of CSR points that don’t really mean anything.
343 could fix this issue in 10 seconds by taking the number off the CSR.
We desperately need that XP rank to give people something else to do.

It’s definitely problematic if people are going to start sandbagging in social.
And this is the problem.
People will change the way they play, probably in a toxic manner, to milk out a theoretical gain in their CSR.
Which then makes the game hard for the rest of us.
All so they can, in theory, slightly increase their artificially inflated number compared to everyone else.
If they’re going to match everything in their game based on MMR, they should just scrap CSR entirely and show everyone’s ELO MMR rating.
Just make it like chess and be done with it if that’s what they want to do.
