Ranked is a crudshoot right now

I ain’t happy, folks. I can’t get a good game of ranked, period.

I’m tired of being the only positive in my team, first of all.

I’m tired of being the only person who sticks around the entire match.

I’m tired of bad match-ups.

I’m tired of waiting four minutes for one match (that isn’t even worth my time.)

I’m tired of doing everything right and getting punished for it.

Very sick of this mess.

They had over a year, and what do they have to show for it?

I’m sick of getting shot around corners, I’m sick of shot not registering, I’m sick of the wild inconsistencies of everything in this game.

What’s the point of playing right now, it sure isn’t for the fun of it.

I hate to agree, but, yeah. No, I do agree entirely. Ranked has not been fun since around Season 2’s beginning - and worse yet, since the winter update, quitters are running RAMPANT. It’s awful.

This is the new era of gaming. ‘Get over it.’

We’re well aware of what gaming has become. It just needs to get better. We’re seeing a trend of the quantity of features decrease as the years go by.

We can’t let this go on forever.

It’s actually pretty simple: as long as there isn’t consistency, the game will suck. It’s completely understandable that people are trying to get good games. And if the game feels great in one match and like complete trash in the next, people will leave and not care about their rank.

the problem is: the population is so low, even if 343 miraculously gets ther crap together, the game probably won’t recover from it.

It takes forever to find a game, and I’m pretty sure the BR aa nerf contributed to people leaving since it changed the feel of the game. I’m about to start playing COD since the population in ranked is abysmal

Playing ranked makes me feel physically sick,

343 seemed to have abandoned it !

I have two types of matches as a solo player

  1. Smurf/Rank boosting games

Allowing diamond Smurfers to play with silvers.
Here’s an idea there are so many people doing this why not match them together !!!

  1. Being the best player on a team of people AFK, quitting or just very bad

Why the extreme, I don’t want/need to win every game, go positive or dominate lesser skilled people.
I just want a game that could go either way that is truly what a competitive game should be.
Unfortunately after 30 seconds it becomes obvious what is going to happen, which is a failing on the game not the players in the match

I am personally loving Infinite right now, however I have some massive issues with it.
First and foremost I agree, people shouldn’t be jumping into Ranked unless they are ready to play serious. If you want to play and mess around… go play social playlists.
Second, I am absolutely flabbergasted at how few folks are playing as a team. No one seems to have a mic and communication is all but nonexistent.
Third (this doesn’t apply to ranked), I am in absolute disbelief that we haven’t had Custom Game Browser return. My friends and I love hyper competitive matches on our custom maps we’ve been making for years and I miss playing these gems with others.

Voice chat is disabled by default, that’s why matchmaking is completely silent. Lots of people think in game communication died because of xbl parties/discord but that’s a load of crap, we had xbl parties back in h3, people would just swap to game chat if their other teammates had mics. The real reason no one uses their mics is because your only options on controller are to use open mic or mute yourself.

This is why I recommend never solo queuing up for matches. Because this will always be the case no matter how good they make the matchmaker. The matchmaker will always be too limited in knowing who to pair up with. It cannot read your minds, it cannot tell if your way of play will work well alongside theirs, it can’t even tell if both sides will communicate with one another. It really is the definition of “playing to lose” or “playing with a handicap”.

If you want to have consistently good matches, you’re going to have to take some time to find people to party up with that play well with you. It’s the only real way to get reliable teammates in this game.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with my 50% win ratio. It just annoys me the more games I play in one session the longer I usually have to wait for each game.

I haven’t experienced many quitters… maybe I’m lucky.

It used to work really well. I didn’t get to Diamond out of sheer luck.

I also do not have friends that are as good as me.

You can stop saying this every time ranked comes up now.

Since 343 was too incompetent to INDICATE whos talking, people are using mics even less. 343 somehow managed to make „one shot on my x“ useless. Never thought this would be possible.

@General_Fox
teams are nice but not the solution to bad game design.

edit: especially if you somehow manage to lose 90% of your playerbase in the first 2 months.

It’s been rough as of late. Hard to finish a game with a full team and some questionable matchmaking. I was frustrated enough yesterday that I had to stop playing ranked and just play skirmish.

It’s the only real solution though. Letting a matchmaker pick your teammates will never be reliable. Not in this game or any other game. You’d be asking for the impossible to believe it ever could be.

I don’t even waste my time. I put the controller down if it’s unbalanced.

It… did fine early this year.

For me, out of the 18ish or so years of gaming ( where matchmaking was involved at least ) where I’ve tried ranked matching making, the vast majority of it has been miserable trying to solo queue for matches, regardless as to what game I was playing at the time. At least for ranked sessions where if you want to progress, you need to win. Halo 2 was probably the first game I remembered relying on it rather then using a traditional server browser. Still aggravates me that games just copied Halo 2 after that point and stopped providing server browsers like it was a dead thing.

The only times it has ever been consistent was if I started hooking up with people I actually trusted before hand.

The worst case was during the Team Fortress 2 beta where when people quit the match suddenly wouldn’t count. So I’d get dozens of loses, and every time we looked to come out a head an enemy team would leave and suddenly my win wouldn’t count so I’d never make any stupid progress. I never even played that one when it got out “beta” because of that. Completely ridiculous.

There are just not enough players to create particularly good (or quick) matches. I’ve played a bit recently and it’s still fun to try to compete, you just can’t worry about your rank. I got smoked by a team last night who were all rocking the onyx emblems (and absolutely played like low onyx) and then their CSR after the game was platinum/low diamond. Everyone’s CSR is going to be messed up due to low population.

I realize that’s kind of a bummer for a ranked playlist. But it’s like late-lifecycle Halo 5: if you’re trying to work your way up the ranks, you’re going to have an awful time.
