So 343 fixed (removed) the so called geofiltering from the game and replaced it with nothing. People used to geofilter to find games with better connections but that was causing issues with other players and that was not good. Right now things imo are much much worse. If you dont live in the USA and you try to find ranked games when the population is so low you get put in 200ms servers in RANKED! How am i supposed to deal with that? If you put me in a server with a 200ms delay not only i will not accept it i will leave the game and ruin it for others. This is not fair! Both teams should have the same delay or at least as close as possible. Try using mnk and 4 shotting people with that lag. Lmao its a joke at this point. I cant stand it in social games just imagine how angry i get when im put in this unfair situation causing me to lose sr. If i cant play a game with acceptable ms delay then i’d rather NOT PLAY at all! This game needs server selection just like MCC has. I want to block the servers that are too far away and dont mind waiting a bit to find decent quality matches. Who wants to play ranked at 200ms anyway???
From what I understand, geofiltering made the already unstable matchmaking process, even more unstable.
Because I guess even though YOU filtered out a perfect server for yourself, while the game would have forced everyone else in the match to play on that server too. And as you already know, not every server is ideal for every player in matchmaking. You could clearly have an advantage over a majority of the players you play against, which is essentially, cheating.
I believe the entire matchmaking system needs overhauled. Because this server/ping crap is some amateur studio stuff, a "AAA’ studio has no right or excuses to have such a rookie mistake persisting in the flagship video game of Microsoft. But this is 343’s work… so I guess it’s not a total shocker. The real shocker is why Microsoft is allowing this carnival to continue.
Yes i know i even stated that it was causing issues for other players . It shouldn’t’ve worked that way though. It should have blocked the servers you selected only for you and that should’ve been the end of it.
I might be mistaken, but geofiltering is working as intended. The real issue is the matchmaking process is already screwed in the first place. So when a player geofilters a specific server, the other players who didn’t, can’t or don’t know how to filter servers will be at an automatic disadvantage because they will be playing in a server the game chose for them, whereas you chose the server perfect for your connection. And if geofiltering becomes the normal routine to play matchmaking, we will end up with some servers not having enough population, with others possibly being bogged down which creates more problems.
Maybe im just lucky. Living in central europe. Most of the matches i play have an average ping of 40 ms. Sometimes i get to play matches with a ping between 120 ms and 140 ms. Annoying, but it doesnt happen often.
I don’t blame you or other players at all for being upset that the servers basically toss a coin to decide which players go to which server.
But again, this is 343, if you wanna stop playing and wait that’s cool, but you might have to wait several months or even a year or more before things like this get properly fixed in 343’s games. It’s just how they work… their spirit animal is a Sloth.
That’s why I don’t bother with Ranked anymore, from the AUS and no point playing with 200ms, if they make an improvement then I’ll probably get back into it
ranked is the only thing I play and its a joke I am a semi competitive player trying to climb the ladder but I feel like I am getting guys who are not ranked or players who are straight trash I have bad games but most of the time I can hold my own against my own bracket
I had around 25 games where I was doing pretty good for the most part and never gained ground to rank up in my bracket pretty frustrating to say the least I was almost plat 5 and droped so quick and did really well and never felt I gained ground and I have around a 55% so now I dont think the ranking system is where it needs to be I feel like I can atleast be a mid diamond player I had 25 game stretch where I was holding a 1.4 K/D and a 1.7 to 3.4 KDA and didnt really budge
If true, then tomorrow when Season 2 starts, the ranks reset, and, most importantly, your Sigma value resets, you should be able to climb your way to where you “should” be with relative ease.
Then again, I feel like I’m a Diamond player, and only got to Plat 5 after the reset, soooo
