So firefight in reach is less than amazing but still good for luls. My idea for it in H4 would be this.
go back to the ODST survival/ scarcity of weapons
add a ranking system for firefight. It would be displayed either the way rank was shown in someones profile in H3 or when you go over someones name in a lobby and you see their challenges completed/ armory completed/ commendations. It would be a 1-100 ranking system with 1-25 being on normal 26-50 heroic 50-100 legendary with skulls going on towards the last 25.
Each wave would represent a number and would progressively get harder. I think this would be a cool way to get people to play firefight and give people something to shoot for, similiar to how the acheivements in ODST still to this day get people to go online and get people together to play and try and get 100,000 points for the achievement and whatnot.
Maybe why I think ODST FireFight was just right was because 1) ODST’s health system made you feel real vulnerable. 2) Brutes are so awesome to kill (no silly rechargable shield) 3) You had a way to defend yourself such as locking yourself in to a building or by blocking the entrance with ghosts. 4) Ammo scarcity

Brutes didn’t have rechargeable shields in Halo 3/ODST. It was just power armor with a shield that would get overloaded and fall apart without recharging. Reach, the Chieftans have them but the captains and minors have none.
Otherwise, i give you 2+ That’s the reason why ODST FF is superior; because it was a fight for survival (aka it was challenging).

I think it would add so much replayability to firefight
maybe they could even make it so that each FF map had its own rank and there would be a highest skill achieved in your profile and a rank that averaged out all of the other maps. like you have a 50 on one map and 100 in another map of only 2 firefight maps int he game you would have a global rank of 75.
that way it tests your groups skill on all maps not just a few which may be conducive to your playstyle or that you just know well. Plus once again it just gives you more cool things to shoot for in the game and adds even more replayability.
It really shocked me the 100k challenges they had in ODST were not replicated in reach for all of its firefight maps. =(

Agreed, I was saddened when you could get the one million points and all the Firefight Achievements could be earned with a modified gametype

That and lag IMO hinder firefight from being mor epopular.
but i never heard of that cheat, and im glad i didnt. I really enjoyed playing through ODST for the achievements
I like the idea. I also like the idea of “in-game leader boards” When you enter the Firefight lobby, there is a list on the right side (or something like that) of current scores with gamer tags.

I think this and ranked would def give some motivation to play and excel at firefight. I hope this is in H4.
Either way it would be a great change of pace from ranked MP and if you ever tried to get the achievements in ODST with you buds then you know how great it is to play firefight with an objective in mind.
plus this would be a great way to get team mates hwo actually care about winning.
anyone who has played limited and gets teammates who just burn lives, so they die 4 times a piece and then in the end you die once and its all over. Not really cool.
If anything this would really aid in getting good teammates.
I also think if you lose a set you go down to the next difficulty, but every time you win you get up in a rank.
Like it would work as firefight does now with 4 rounds and a boss round at the end like a 30 min game each. Each rank would just be harder then the last. 1-25 normal 25-50 heroic 50+ legendary later on skulls, maybe approaching 100 all you are fighting are elites, brutes, and hunters
