They should never have been removed and put into the rotational playlist. Even if they were underperforming (during the worst point of Infinites lifecycle just before a major update…) they are core modes that should be permanent no matter what. Many people prefer smaller scale teams (2v2) to 4v4 and many want to be able to play completely by themselves without any teammates (FFA) and they need to have that option.
All that was needed was:
Ranked FFA changed back to 6 Players. 8 Players was too chaotic for Ranked FFA in Infinite, the spawns were so much worse and the third partying was too much. 6 Players played really well, the only problem at that time was King of the Hill being in the playlist.
Ranked Doubles could have had Oddball and CTF added to the playlist for a bit of variety. Also the real problem in Ranked Doubles was the power weapons spawning too frequently.
If that stuff was fixed the playlists would have gained new popularity with the update due to the rank reset, CSR improvements, etc. Plus Social Doubles and Rumble Pit were removed too so more people would have been playing the ranked playlists anyway.
When it rotates to Ranked lone Wolves in a few weeks I think it will have 6 players matching the Lone Wolves playlist in H3.
I agree it should be permanent. So when Lone wolves and Doubles come back, play them more than 4v4. I think it will be a vote in favour for it to become permanent.
Not being able to just jump into a FFA Slayer game when I want is what’s stopped me from playing. Really disappointing for me but I guess the majority of players don’t care?
But then they’ll start removing 4v4 playlists. We need to take the whole concept of “rotating playlists” and throw it in the garbage where it belongs. Want limited time gamemodes? Then they can add in one playlist and just change it every 2-4 weeks, and make it double xp on the weekends. Keep removing core playlists and you’re never going to get veteran halo players to come back, and you can forget about growing a “new audience” because they’re also going to quit when you remove the playlist they’ve been enjoying.
They would never make their beloved HCS playlist rotational. Although I do agree FFA doubles and 4v4 should be a permanent Rosita in ranked. Caters for everybody then.
Lone Wolves ranked playlist in Halo 3 had Oddball and Snipers in it didnt it? Im definitely for a FFA Snipers mode being in the rotational ranked playlist but in my opinion the permanent Ranked FFA Playlist should always be 6 players and Slayer only.
Agreed, ranked FFA, doubel and 4V4 should be permanent, no way around it. I was shocked to see team doubel removed after finally being added, it was the reason i returned to the game anf now it’s gone once again.
Sad that 18 years ago H2 launched with way more ranked playlists. Having nothing to strive for but 2 ranked playlists for literally the same thing is a buzzkill
