Ranked feels barebones again now

Pretty bored of only being able to play 4s. We had options given to us during Year 1, why did we have to go backwards with the Winter Update? Literally every other change in the Winter Update was great but why did they have to remove Ranked FFA and Ranked Doubles and put them on rotation?

We definitely need to have permanent 4v4 Arena, 6 Player FFA Slayer and 2v2 (Slayer, CTF and Oddball) ranked playlists at all times. Ideally we would also have a permanent 4v4 Slayer playlist. Then also have a rotating playlist with stuff like survivors, ffa snipers, team snipers, tactical slayer, 2v2 dodgeball, etc.

I’m sure they would like all those playlists and more.

But nobody wins if the playlist populations are spread even thinner. So they had to cut some of the least popular ones and put them on rotation.

Hopefully Season 3 brings a custom game browser. Then they can have as many active playlists as they like!

Invalid reasoning. The population is spread thin because the playlists that attract the most players are not in the game. Removing playlists and making core modes rotational is only driving people further away from the game. Bringing back the playlists people enjoy as “rotational modes” doesn’t incentivize them to play the game when they get added back, because they’re simply not interested in playing a Halo where their preferred playlist may or may not even be in the game. If people can’t boot up Halo and jump into the playlist they prefer whenever they want to then they just quit Halo, fullstop.

More a case of insufficient data.

343 would have numbers at hand. And trends.

And probably a significant concern that custom games would further weaken borderline playlists.

At the moment you click on one playlist to queue. I was always amazed you couldn’t select multiple. A rudimentary custom browser if you like. Maybe even prioritised initially to the lowest populated playlist.

But anyway. Hopefully a moot point from S3 onwards.
