Rank Systems : 1-50 vs. My Way

If you were the leader of a large group, and you had to choose between making most of them happy, and making all of them happy, which would you choose?

Remember that while reading this post.

It’s obvious that there is alot of talk about choosing between the 1-50 and Reach ranking systems.
Some say, “Choose Reach”, most say, “Choose 1-50”.
But no one has considered both. I have.
You may be wondering how this could work.
I’ll explain.

In Halo 3, MP was split into Ranked and Social.
I’m sure most of you favored this separation and would like to see it in Halo 4. As would I.

In Halo 3. people typically played Social to just have fun and mess around.
While in Ranked, people came to win, and some got pretty serious.
I say this should return in Halo 4, MP separation was one of the tops of Halo 3.

And now, to find how the Reach ranking system ties into this.
If Halo 4 does separate MP, it should also separate the ranking systems.
Now, since Ranked is for competitive play, the 1-50 should be used for it.
But in Social, people should be able to rank up using the Reach system.
Why?
Because people in Ranked are usually serious and skill is the main idea here.
In Social, there’'s more inexperienced players on average.
And those newer players will obviously want to rank up.
But maybe they can’t because they keep losing, and in the 1-50, no win, no rank increase.
And so, these new players need the Reach system, so they can rank up without having to win.
And before you classic Halo players object, think about this.
If Ranked has the 1-50, and Social has the Reach system.
Where do you think all the inexperienced noobs are gonna go.
Reach, because there, they can rank up.

Some of you may be asking, “So how are we gonna have 2 separate currencies?”.
Well, we won’t. With the new Spartan Points, Reach rank won’t dictate how much S$ they have.
While they’ll still rank up through simply playing the game in Social.
They won’t get S$ for it.

The way to get S$ is by getting kills and medals, and that’s it.

(ADDED INFO)
Though both separations would have the same currency, they would use separate bank accounts.
This keeps cheaters from going into Social and taking advantage of the lesser experienced players and using them to get S$ to buy equipment for Ranked.

In the end, I’d say I pleased both the newcomers and the vets.

So guys, please give your honest opinion on this Ranking System.
But don’t flame me, my suit is gone and I’m allergic to fire.

So guys, should we make most happy, or everyone?

(Hey guys, if you think this would be great in Halo 4, please thank this post. Maybe if we get enough, 343 will notice and use this in Halo4, or if it’s too late, Halo5. Thanks!)

Reaches ranks with tweaking. Secondary true skill numerical ranking visible to the player only. That’s what I say, ranks shouldn’t be something you can hang over someone’s head in a lobby, they should be apparent to others ingame

Two different styles of gaming and two different ways of getting results. I likey.

This would basically be perfect. I can’t find any faults here, I just wonder why I’ve never thought of it myself, haha. Well thought-out, good job man.

what about people that would probably play both though?

you said “The way to get S$ is by getting kills and medals, and that’s it.” ppl can get medals and kills in social and unlock S$, couldn’t players farm social to get S$ and get better equipment for use in ranked? unless u meant only ranked would give u S$ which would be kinda unfair for the casuals as halo is known to cater to all.

your idea would be perfect for reach where all customization would be aesthetic but sadly in halo 4 they want items that can affect gameplay.

Not being devil’s advocate though cause i like your idea.

Oh yeah, sorry, the thought of cheaters has eluded me.
You got a point there.
Maybe set 2 separate S$ banks, 1 for Social, 1 for Ranked.
But they’d still be using the same currency system, just separate bank accounts.
Thanks for mentioning it, that would be a problem.
But I think separate S$ bank accounts would solve the issue.

Thanks.
I expected to be flamed by the power of the sun x100.
I guess I was wrong…

Sounds good.

To me

Thanks.
Please, if you would like to see this used in Halo 4 or any other future Halo, please Thank my thread post.

No offense, but many people in regards to ranking are being such babies.

I swear, it’s like you’re not allowed to know there’s people better than you out there because it’ll hurt their mentality or make them feel lesser.

The only thing we need is a strict matching system (matching, not ranking necessarily) that can effectively segregate player skill like Ladder does in SC2. Nobody wants to play against people 20x better than them, but that doesn’t mean they’re not competitive.

Ranks should be visible, people don’t want to work for something then have no way to show it off, that’s just ridiculous. There’s always going to be annoying elitist -Yoinks!- that will brag about rank and demean others, ranking system or not. But along with that comes pride, and something to work for. I was just looking back at my bungie.net stats from 2004-2005 in Halo 2, looking at all the customs and friends I had met. All the intense TS games and randoms games of hill and juggernaut, looking at all my levels and such. I remember what great times I had playing against people that actually cared about winning because of ranking. It was something that kept people going and reminded them every once in awhile why Halo is fun.

It doesn’t have to be the end all be all, but something that’s there to enjoy. I do agree that we can have some social playlists for guests and messing around, but ranking is where it’s at. Doesn’t even have to be 1-50. Just something that grounded well and not stupid like Lt. Colonel grade 3.

I had the thought of mixing them why not have both ? yea I posted it some where maybe not exact same but yea im sure halo 4 has this or just halo reach style

Stop changing the title.

> Stop changing the title.

Why don’t you respond to the thread post.
You’re off-topic, which I believe is against the rules.

Also, why not change name, I don’t like it, I change it.
There’s no rule against it.

I guess you don’t like it a lot being that there has been atleast 4 different titles.

Edit: Fine, to respond to your post. It can’t just be like that. 1-50 needs to be tweaked, the system wasnt perfect. It still had its flaws in the ways you ranked up.

Why not just have separate levels in both playlists too?

Levels?

Fine by me, let 343 do the tweaking.
I’m just trying to convince 343 to use my this ranking system in either H4 or later Halos.
Because I made this system to serve everyone.
Not just 1-50 or Reach like everyone else.
They think of their own wants, which is selfish.
It should be both so everyone’s happy.

I think you’ll find many people have posted this thread before, for instance, me.

I still completely agree with you though.

That’s because its the exact same as halo 3. Also, they need to keep guests out of ranked matches.

It’s not the same as Halo 3, it’s Halo 3 mixed with Reach.
