What happens to the competitive ranks on the update? I’ve heard some people say the get reset and others say they get adjusted. Anyone know which it is?
They are getting reset. The way ranks are calculated is getting adjusted.

What he said, but the season goes till the 31st of January and then they get reset again. Make sure to finish prelims to get a one time REQ thing

Ah. So my SWAT rank is currently at Champion. This means it gets wiped and I have nothing to show for it? And then I have to grind away at hitting Champion again but 343 is changing how it gets calculated?

Wait, are you saying the ranks get reset on Jan 31 or do they get reset on the update and then again on Jan 31?

You’ll be able to see it on waypoint. It’s getting reset every month to let other players get a chance at champion. Otherwise, people in champion would just keep piling on points and we’d never see a change. 343 is adjusting the ranking curve of how it grades players, specifically in FFA and SWAT. There were players getting diamond and onyx that had absolutely no business being in that rank, myself included. I was negative in SWAT and ended up with a diamond at the end of my placement matches. Now, doesn’t that seem a bit off? It didn’t reflect my skill in that playlist well at all.

They’re getting reset after every month. This first season will be a bit longer, going from this week to Jan 31. After that, every month.
You’d think players would get something like an emblem or some indication of Champion rank in a playlist. Otherwise what’s the point of achieving it if it’s just going to disappear every month.
The ranking system is way off. I have gold but I own people in platinum and even diamond but because my other team mates suck, I’m usually losing the game. Very frustrating. I also have someone in my play list who is equal to me but has diamond. Doesn’t make sense to me.

im not sure if this is related but my ranks got rest completely. Has this happened to anyone else today?
I played my placements today and I got placed exaclty what i was at the end of the pre-season. I was playing against all champions in Team Arena, my friend and I played all 10 games together and won 8 games. He got placed champion and I got diamond 1 which was exactly what i was at the end of the pre-season. Also during my qualifiers for the slayer playlist my rank showed plat 2 even though i was doing my qualifiers. Then i got placed plat 2, which was exaclty what i was at the end of the pre-season. However, during my qualifiers I was playing against Champions and onyx. Is there any explanation?
I was Champion in SWAT pre-season and won 9/10 of my qualifiers to end up as Plat 1.
