Are we able to rank down (i mean going from diamond 1 to platinium 6 for instance) ? I’ve read somewhere that it’s possible but i’m really doubting. It’s a real issue because with placement matches being sometime random, how level are supposed to be balanced if a guy is put onyx eventhough is real level is gold and he can’t rank down ?
The only form of ranking down is going between the six levels of your rank, you aren’t able to rank down below 1 in your current rank.
Ok that was pretty obvious finally but it just wanted to be sure. But then how is it supposed to show our skill level ? When you’re Onyx you can’t have a CSR less than 1500 whereas you actual skill is under 1500. If a guys have the luck to be overrated after playing placement matchs, he maybe won’t ever be playing against players of his true level which can be very frustrating. Am i the only one seeing a problem here ?
Your not the only one who sees that problem. There are just issues with how the CSR places a player right now. I’ve seen some players who play at the level of bronze or silver and end up getting ranked at platinum.
But even is placement matches are “broken”, it should be ok after losing many games if players were able to rank down. here it just can’t reflect the actual skill it’s the main problem i guess.

Dont forget people sandbagging their ranking matches. Played against some bronzes last night in swat (im platinum) and just got destroyed. These guys never seemed to miss the insta headshot. (Only complaining about the sandbagging, not my butt kicking, that happens a lot)

You don’t get sorted matched on your Division, supposedly. There’s meant to be a hidden underlying MMR value which you’re sorted on.
i thought i read the gold, platinum, whatever ranking gets reset when the season changes? not sure if that’s accurate or not but i thought i heard that somewhere.

isn’t that only due to party with inegal player’s level forcing the matchmaking to find a compromise ?

Yeah its true. Arena is divided into one month long seasons and ranks will be reset at the end of the season and players will be given rewards as well.

I started in gold in slayer and now am at platinum 3 or 4 I believe

I got through into Diamond immediately, even in breakout!!?? I have a -0.06 KD in breakout. I don’t understand. I’m not BAD at halo, but definitely not Diamond, unless Onyx is about 109x better than Diamond.
Hell, my brother in law is better than me; got Onyx in every playlist except Breakout, in which case he got platinum. With a +7.2 KD.
And then my GF gets Platinum with a -5.5 KD. How is it even calculated??!
Next month I’m going to play my placement rounds with just one hand because I’m not Diamond; I get my -Yoink- handed to me every match and can’t progress past Diamond 1.
Ill find my ACTUAL league next month by -Yoinking!- up my placement matches then working my way up legitimately.

I’m sorry, but I’d laugh if you managed to get stuck in a higher rank even if you did this. Heard of people being in a high division even when they did this.
Also I’m only laughing at how the system ranks people, not the pain you’d end up going through… Again

I understand; arena isn’t even fun because I have to clench my -Yoink- just to not get raped in every game.
I believe I’m probably Platinum at BEST!
I’d say this problem increase pretty much the fun felt from the game. If you haven’t any social playlist and you’re condamned to play against people a lot stronger than you how are you suppose to make fun ? (not saying i have this problem though)
About placement rounds, i guess the thing isn’t your ratio but the rank of the opponent you fight against.
