Rank Cooldown

Each number rank also has a color. The color corresponds to the last time the player was victorious in that playlist. A red rank means the player won a game in that playlist in the past week. The rank will gradually change from red to violet (ROYGBIV) with each week that goes by without a win in that playlist.

remember how -Yoink!- the 37-39 ranks looked in Halo 2?

The H2 ranks were indeed -Yoink!-.

Oh ROYGBIV, so we are going to have a ranking system based off the electromagnetic spectrum?

Get a Gamma Ray, kid.

Those ranks and the comet rank (49) were the coolest to me. Back in H2 when you saw someone with the symbols especially in hardcore you knew they were good. Whoa getting a little nostalgic in here hope I don’t tear up.

who the hell owns a Gamma Ray? Certainly not average citizens like me. You probobly dont even know what ROYGBIV is, here let me enlighten you, kid. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. More understandable for you?

> Oh ROYGBIV, so we are going to have a ranking system based off the electromagnetic spectrum?

Yes but only a small section called visible light. You know, the colors of the rainbow? Where red signifies that your rank is “hot” and every subsequent color would be “cooler” down to violet. Get it?

I like it. It’s pretty smexy :stuck_out_tongue:

This seems pointless, just because they haven’t been playing the playlist their rank changes colour? why not just have blue green yellow orange red, and instead of the “cool down” system you stated, why not have them change colour depending on if your about to rank up or de-rank.

What you are suggesting is the equivalent of adding more ranks (blue = grade 1, green = grade 2, red = grade 3). You might as well just make a 1-150 system with no colors.

Number shows skill level.
Color shows the last time that skill level was proven.

No, I meant you colour changes whether your doing good or not. If your in the higher levels, it takes longer to get to the next level, so the more times you win, the closer you get to blue and rank up, the more times you lose, the closer you get to red then de-rank.

Your system is pointless anyway, not many people would understand the colour system and how would not playing in that playlist for however long affect your rank and how you play.

What you have to understand is that your color is not your rank. Your number is your rank. The color just shows how active that rank is. Basically a Violet 50 would be a joke and called a bought 50. That is the root reason for this system: to combat buying and selling accounts. When people can see that you have a 50 that hasn’t been played on in 7 weeks they can see that it was bought.

No that doesn’t make sense + wouldn’t you want green to mean victorious???

> No that doesn’t make sense + wouldn’t you want green to mean victorious???

I’m with this. People associate green with good and red with bad and sometimes blue as a neutral middle ground. Seems like the original color system would throw people off a bit.

You’re just joking right? Those kids weren’t really good. Everyone knows that anyone that hit a rank over 40 in Halo 2 pretty much manipulated the system in one way or another. Whether it was bridging for host or modding. Level 40 was pretty much the 50 for everyone that didn’t cheat in Halo 2.

The association I was attempting to make was between color and temperature. Red is hot. Blue is cold. “I’m on fire right now!” “I’m on a cold streak.” Winning and losing can be equated to hot and cold so I went with that.

Regardless of what colors are used, what do you think of the idea of showing how active a player is in a playlist in addition to their skill level?

that is stupid

I actually really like the idea. But I’m more of a visual guy. I’d rather have 50 ranks broken into 3 categories than have 150 ranks.

I like the idea that it shows your last win to demote the idea of buying accounts.
I also like if it showed whether or not you were about to go up or down. Puts a lot of stress into the beginning of a game and could lead to some fun trash talk.
“Uh oh. Somebody’s blue. Let me see if I can help you with that deranking.”
