I’ve been asking for one thing since Reach was released and that is to keep your arena rating on your nameplate at all time.
Also put another update message for people so they know Arena is all about win/loss
For example say your a Gold and you hop into snipers it should show your current rank.
Last week during Arena super jackpot weekend I had a guy who was a Nova ask me what the gold star next to my name meant. During the match I had to explain to him how divisions work and that arena is no longer about individual scores and how its all about win/loss and I heard that conversation throughout the whole weekend.
I know the focus at the moment is on Halo 4 and I would rather 343 worry about H4 at this point and make it a great game but this one thing if possible would make a huge deal.
People say Arena doesn’t mean anything and the sole reason it doesn’t is because you can’t see it. Even if you wanted to there isn’t enough time in a lobby to check out everyone’s rank but if you joined a game of doubles and noticed the other team had two onyx players and you weren’t ranked I guarantee people would start caring about rank.
so if 2 onyx players gets teamed up against 2 noobs.
the noobs will just snap out their internet cable, maybe thats a good thing.
this idea gives the arena players street cred, but it will cause more quitting.
Been saying this for a LONG time. Also sucks how it only keeps track of your division standings for the last 3 seasons you played with. Virtually no record in Reach, or on here of where you placed in previous seasons.
Alot of players don’t even know how to get into the Service Record, and navigate to Arena to see where they stand! It’s ridiculous, I can’t even check the other teams standings in less than 3-4 minutes.
Even if it isn’t on the nameplate, it should at least be on the first page of the Service Record so that you don’t have to navigate through menus to find it.
Then all they have to do is click on your service record and BAM!! There it is. They can see the division. Then they can go into the Arena sub-menus and check out what percentile you are and your k/d, w/l, etc.
I thought of this when reach was released too

That’s a good idea you got there.
I AGREE WITH THIS GUY 100%!
I’m not sure if it should show in every playlist on the nameplate, since not even H2/H3 ranks really did that, but it should be easily seen with other quick general info when hovering over a persons name.
Better than knowing how many challenges a person has gotten done at least.
> to keep your arena rating on your nameplate at all time.
The minute this happens YouTube will be full of black market videos saying “I’ll BOOST U TO ONYX!” 3 MONTHS OF XBL FOR A FREE RANK BOOST" and “ONYX ACCOUNT FORS SALE!!!1!!!”
Then as soon as rank means something again… It would mean nothing.
Cough 10 year olds with a Max rank Onyx Cough
I agree with your though process, but I have to say: Not all ten year olds are that bad. I have a friend who was a ten year old and he was way better at the game than I was.

So instead they do it 1 minute into the game when we have rockets, both snipers and total map control…
They could also makes it so you can’t rank up unless you have the right division.
Iron division:
Recruit - General
Bronze division:
Field Marshal - Legend
Silver division:
Mythic - Noble
Gold division:
Eclipse - Nova
Onyx division:
Forerunner - Inheritor

But than how would little timmy get his inheritor by playing firefight all day every day?
That goes against everything 343 and Bungie stand for. lol…
