Ive had my rank reset multiple times, as in, including the most recent, 6 times so far.
When I’m in a party I exclusively join other people. I do not host the party ever, and otherwise I queue up solo. It seems to only happen when i am in a party.
I have about 60 games played with about 50 wins. It first happened when I was rank 2, it put me to 1 as my friend went up to 3. We were on the same team and we obviously won the game. I made a joke that I adopted his scummy play style of rushing the power weapons and staying in one spot while your pawns do all the real fighting that match, so the game acted as though i played on his behalf and I ranked him up. Since then, it has happened to me at ranks 2 again, 7, 4, 6, and the most recent, at 11. Now, I wouldn’t mind a rank reset given the amount of unfair games Ive played (on both ends), however, this rank reset appears to ONLY be happening to me. All of my friends that I regularly queue with haven’t had it happen to them once.
This is really starting to irritate me because I am the most dedicated out of all my friends to this game. I stayed up and played when they all went to bed. I queued for hours to get a game because I wanted to badly to play. They all left at the first signs of any glitches. I deal with all the hoops I have to jump through just to be able to rejoin their parties after a successful game. They are all 15 and 17 and 19 and receiving all the cool new decals and seeing what the next color will be and basically just reliving the nostalgia that I want. Mathematically I should be rank 30, but obviously given the assumption that it is harder to rank up the higher your rank is, especially when playing against all low rank people, I would have likely been in the early 20s, and most definitely be the leader in my group of friends.
Anyway, bruised ego aside, I am really beginning to wonder if I should even try to regain my rank. I cannot just keep blindly trusting that it will work, especially since I haven’t seen any other person experiencing the same issue. It seems random and arbitrary. I do not mind regaining the rank, as it was fairly easy to get, but this will start to create quite the disparity between me and my friends if it continues to occur and they are reaching the 30s.
The most recent time happened AFTER everything got “fixed,” and I had managed to reach rank 11 by that time, which was the longest I went without experiencing what I’m assuming is a glitch. We were a party of 3 and got into a match vs 3 other people, but as the game got into the stage of voting, I got a message on my screen that I was kicked. I pressed okay and proceeded to work out all the glitches that is required to get partied back up with one another, the whole time without party chat, so I cannot know if they too received the “kicked” message. After having to open the find game screen just to see my roster of friends, I noticed the 1. I wanted to assume it was just a glitch and that I wasn’t truly rank 1 AGAIN, but indeed I was. That’s all the info I have, as I said I haven’t seen it happen to anybody else.
Let me finish by saying that I am definitely in favor of an across-the-board rank reset, and I feel like either I would have to KNOW that 343 is planning a rank reset for everybody in the coming days, or that they have fixed this bug, or at the least working on it, to begin to play again. I know they posted a twitter message saying they would do a reset, but that was before all the xbox live issues and the “updates” that we went through today. It isn’t just about the little number next to my name specifically, it is more about this disparity that is being created between me and my friends, and it only makes it sting more to know that I strive harder for that stupid little number than any of them do or probably ever will do.
If a rank reset is guaranteed, I can play my heart out and be content, otherwise I would have to know this bug is completely fixed before attempting to rank up again. Even with a rank reset I still would like to know it was fixed before trying again, but I wouldn’t mind having it happen to me again after everything is running smoothly just to have it ironed out. As long as my friends who play half as much as I do aren’t twice my rank.
