Rank 150- 152 are you really not even half way?

Forum I got a question relating to the gap between rank 150 and 152 in halo 5. My friends have told me that your not even at the half way point of XP when your level 150 compared to level 152 is this true?

Also if its true then why make a drastic XP gap in the ranks then? ?_?
