OH HAI.

So, I love Halo. Total fanboy of the actual storylines beyond just the games. Read all the novels, and absorb every bit of information I can from this awesome series.

So I have a theory, and I apologize if this has already been discussed. The opening cutscene in Halo 4, where Halsey is being grilled by random shadowed character… does anybody else get the feeling that is Master Chief’s clone? Cuz dat voice…

For those that don’t know, part of how the Spartan II program worked was that Halsey and Keyes went around picking up kids with the right genetic traits, flash cloning them, then returning th eclones to the parents. Most of them developed life-ending medical issues, but a few survived.

So I think one of two things.

  1. Chief’s genetic makeup was extra-awesome, and they ended up taking on the clone as well as original into the UNSC.

Or…

  1. (And this one is less likely, though I believe would be a hell of a twist) That clone is actually a leader within the Human Rebels, and somehow got his way into interviewing Halsey. Dunno how he would of, but the Rebels are capable of some pretty intense subterfuge in the books.

How interesting would it be if it turned out, in one of the future Halo titles, that the Chief would end up face-to-face with his clone? Or even having to fight him? Perhaps the tech for the Spartan armor leaked during the chaos of the Covenant War, and then Insurrectionists made their own version of MJOLNIR armor to fight against the Spartans? Remember, they weren’t designed for fighting aliens, but for putting down rebels.

Dunno. Anybody else think these would be cool plots? Just curious.

I don’t think Master Chief’s clone would be interrogating old women.

Why not? Don’t think the clone would be looking for answers of his own existence? Who better to get the answers from than the “Mother” of the whole program, and one who would of created him?

Well, if it was the old woman responsible for all of his life issues like being a clone, it’s her fault. So it would make some sense be might be interviewing her. I got the sense it was higher ups in the UNSC, but who knows, that’s an interesting theory.

i don’t follow Halo Lore too much outside of the games, so i may not know;

have the UNSC ever made a full out clone?
because i know that ONI made flash clones to cover their tracks with the Spartan program, but I’ve never heard of actual, full clones in the UNSC

Not sure if they’ve done a “Slow-clone”, actually. But maybe the Chief’s clone just didn’t die like the others all did.

If I were ONI or the UNSC, I would clone Master Chief with one purpose in mind: Kill. Chief is a killer. Placing him aboard a ship giving orders wouldn’t really suit him, but who knows… Master Chief is still a mysterious individual that may be capable of things we just don’t know about yet.

The Master Chief is a killer, but that doesn’t mean his clone would have to be, as well.

Though, again, just all theory and me thinking “out loud”, here.
