RANDOM KICK

I want to -Yoinking!- know why I am playing a game with no lag, game will go without a hitch and halfway through the game, there will go black screen, then everybody appears to quit, it goes GAME OVER and i have to search again. why the hell does this happen? it happens to me all the time

Same, I think it has something to do with my “Strict NAT Type”- no idea what that is though, could be the same for you.

Not idea about Halo but host dashboarding(/powering off) tends to have disastrous consequences on games. The game doesn’t get a chance to transfer the host hence the game can’t continue.

It’s just your connection kicking/lagging you out of the game.

I’ve had the same problem before where my connection is perfect and my games are really smooth before it disconnects and boots everyone. As much of a pain as this will be to hear, it’s honestly your connections. Routers, no matter how good, sometimes cut off temporarily; this can be less than a couple of seconds, but enough time for the Xbox to register you as offline and boot you from the game. Because the DCs are so short, it’s often unnoticeable and appears to be the host/server’s fault. Not really a way to fix it I’m afraid, it’s just technology

I’ve never had it just boot in the middle of a game, I frequently get games where the host quits and the game cant continue, usually where ever it says “Selecting Host with Best Connection” it almost never restarts a game, time to go and get a drink while it black screens for a few minutes.

happened to me too

A fast connection doesn’t necessarily mean a good connection. If it happens often and you have strict NAT, try power cycling your router a few times until it says Open NAT (and if that doesn’t help, there are guides online).

I would also try doing a connection quality test (like pingtest.net).

Doing a network test all the way through and then restarting the xbox also achieves the same results, save you needing to get up and go to your router. #LazyGamersAnonymous

You’re lagging out. It’s your connection whether you want to believe it or not. Could be as simple as power cycling your network or updating the firmware on your router.

Ah, hello Arcasius. Fancy seeing you here…

Anyway, there are a few possible answers:

  1. Simly Lagging out. Happens to me all the time, I have crappy internet though.

  2. Host Connectivity problems. Possibly their internet crashed or they turned their console off. I think that would likely end in a black screen an a game over.

  3. Host booters. Not much to say about them other than the fact that they are there.

Also, if you are having a lot of problems, doing a connectivity test helps for whatever reason. It’s what I have to do to even log on on a daily basis.

If the game goes blackscreen, all hell breaks loose and someone is bound to get booted!
Or that’s how it seems anyway
