So last night i had some of the family round, and seeings halo 4 is out soon we thought we would brush up our halo skills. so there was four of us in total me (sosuperfly1) my father-in-law (erickviking01) and my brother-in-law (G6 BO55) and his 5 year old daughter playing guest. i no what you thinking why are you letting a 5 year old play and we it’s quite simple really it stops her wondering around and she really enjoys it.
im guessing the reason we all got banned is that the guest (a 5 year old) wasn’t actually able to kill anyone apart from and the start of every game in the back of the head. but all she did was wonder around getting killed and shooting everything but over plays and just being general canon fodder.
so no because we were nice and made a child’s evening we are all being penalised for it which i think is unfair, i know they ban people for having an afk player consistently but she wasn’t afk at any point. granted she didn’t get any kills but she was moving at least.
so is there any way to have this pointless suspension lifted? 343 just sort it out i’ll send you pictures if your not convinced!!

I know what the problem is: You let a five year old play a game they probably do not know how to play and online too.
Want her to not wander around everywhere hook up another tv and have her play a game for someone her age.

To put this in perspective, imagine someone who wasn’t 5 years old doing that in the game.
We would call that person an -Yoink- and hate them for it wouldn’t we? No one can tell who’s 5 over Xbox LIVE and neither do they care. They just want to have fun playing Halo and not have people ruin it for them.

You’re right on the money. Reach wasn’t set up to allow actual AFK detection. In order to ban people for AFKing, the system has to rely on an assumption: if a player gets 0 points across several matches, then they are probably AFKing.
Unfortunately, a system that relies on this sort of guesswork is easy to deceive, and prone to false-positives.

Appeals for automatic bans are not accepted, because 343i does not have enough staff to efficiently receive, verify, and act on evidence that players send in.
Generally speaking, manual enforcement of rules in a high-population game is not possible. Developers have to rely on automated systems, and Reach is an unfortunate demonstration of what happens when those systems fail.
sounds like you got a week ban it should lift in a couple of days if not then you’ve been slapped with a two week ban. just wait and it will go away but i would advise you to not get banned again as it will definitely be two weeks.
thanks for the info and thanks to everyone who replayed it took a while for the penny to drop but we now realise what we had inadvertently done. i just feel aggravated that we were only trying to do good and instead got slapped by a floored banning system.
yeah it does suck but as mentioned its an automatic system so no one personally banned you. Bit of advice last time i used a gold trial card on a spare profile for my guest so only their profile was banned not mine.
ah seems a legit way around that problem but the two people who where playing with me have also received the same ban and when they returned to there respective homes it banned there consoles as well so its not just mine but there is two more profiles and all the profiles on there xbox’s as well just seems a bit over the top.
i no i thought it was wired i never got below 25 kills and the over two profiles mopped up the rest of the kills and the guest got 0 kills but was always active and never stood still but the guest always had at least 1 assist so thats why its so strange.
