All three types of grenades are effective in Halo 4.
Frags have the highest range and blast radius. They are also the best type of grenade to be used to bounce. They are an excellent choice to support you or teammates against enemies in combat. Each loadout comes with 2 frag grenades when they are selected.
Plasma grenades are also very effective. Although weaker than frags and have a longer detonation time and smaller blast radius, plasma grenades can easily be used (thrown) to easily stick an enemy. When a Spartan is stuck, that player will die in a matter of seconds unless having an overshield. Plasma grenades are also very effective at taking down vehicles. Vehicles are basically made out of paper in this game. Each loadout comes with 2 stickies when they are selected.
Many people say the Pulse Grenade is very weak. That is not necessarily true. People only think this because they do not how to use them properly. The disadvantages of a Pulse Grenade is that they have the longest detonation time, the pulse field is immediately obvious, pulse grenades do not bounce, and if you select a pulse grenade you are picking it over frags and stickies. Pulse grenades are pretty effective:
-Great for players that do not want their grenades to bounce
-Drains shields if enemies walk into your pulse field (they can still drain yours). This leads to the third advantage of a pulse grenade.
-An excellent area-denial weapon. Drive enemies out of cover, support allies, disintegrate players instantly who foolishly walk into the pulse field when the grenade detonates, and pulse grenades are ideal when enemies are following you. So many times in Haven in the hallway, people have chased me all the time. I jump downstairs, and when my enemies come downstairs to try and get me - there is a pulse grenade and pulse field right at their feet, giving me a nice combat advantage.
Each loadout comes with 1 Pulse Grenade when selected. Do YOU think that people should start off with 2?
I’d really like to know the reasoning behind only starting with one Pulse Grenade. They’re easily the hardest to use, so why only give us one? It just doesn’t make any sense to me.
> I think every player should start with 2. Theres literally no reason why not.
Actually, there is a reason. To many Pulse Grenades detonating on the map at once can cause the game to crash I belive.
I think that the pulse grenade should get a buff instead.

Not only are they the hardest to use, they are the least used.
Finally see that people have started voting ‘No’ and ‘Maybe/Other’ on the poll.
If any grenade needs to be only one, I think that it should be the plasma grenade. Too many kills are obtained from sticking enemies and vehicles. Vehicles are way too weak in this game IMO.

Thats got to be BS lol.
If that were the case troll teams would go into BTB all equipped with pulse grenades and grenadier and cause game crashes for fun.
Agreed! I believe it was stated only one pulse grenade for ‘balancing’ reasons but I don’t see how this is the case. Frags and Plasma’s are definitely more deadly and effective for most. There should be 2 just like every other grenade.
I think that all three grenades are well-balanced, and that all three are somewhat equally deadly and useful. They are well-balanced, but obviously not perfectly balanced. There is no such thing as a perfectly balanced shooter game with lots of guns and customization.
The best part is that it only takes 2 plasmas to blow up a Warthog and the 2 plasmas also lead to an “Elite Slayer 2.0” style of game. However, this issue was fixed in Reach when players only got one, and in Halo 4, they’d also have to choose them over Frags and Pulses.
Meanwhile we only get 1 Pulse made when it is easily the most situational grenade, just like Thruster Pack is compared to the other AA’s. This is like if we gave Thruster Pack the cool down of Regen Field…
I do think we should get 3 Frag and Pulse nades and 2 Plasmas in Spartan Ops since I can’t find them anywhere.

How so? If you mean trapping, you can do that with any grenade.

I seriously cannot comprehend why you would say that about Pulse grenades instead of Frag Grenades.

I’d also like to know how to use them efficiently.

That’s not called cheap, that’s called being a good player and being able to make the best use of Pulse Grenades. And if you think that pulse grenades are cheap, I’m quite surprised you don’t think that of the other grenades (the frags and the plasmas).
However, Pulse Grenades are so much fun to use! It’s quite rare to actually get kills with them but I have done so before. One time in War Games a guy was chasing me and I threw two Pulse Grenades behind him. He tried to melee me but I pulled out my energy sword. Scared of the energy sword, my opponent took steps back to distance himself away from my sword. He had walked into the pulse field right when it detonated. After a few seconds, nothing was left of his dead Spartan body.

Nice! I would be laughing so hard at that!
I’ve actually managed to get Pulse Grenades as my Tool of Destruction before with six kills in one game. Pulse Grenades + Explosives = Win!

Never tried using Pulse Grenades with explosives before. I should try it out sometime!
I’ve never gotten Pulse Grenades as my Tool of Destruction
Obtaining six kills with Pulse Grenades is no easy feat. Congrats!
I always end up with the AR, DMR, melee or power weapon as my tool of destruction. Wish I could get Pulse Grenades.
