Raise K/D Ratio?

I would like to die a little less and play a bit smarter in my games, does anyone have any tips how to raise your K/D?

Ideally i don’t want suggestions like going into objective games and rinsing kills, i think it ruins it for others. Slayer on the other hand, i don’t mind ruining people’s day

My K/D is currently 1.18

K/D in a halo game should not matter at all, but 343 have made it now so people actually care about it, meh! The days of just going positive…

Stay away from centre of maps, eg haven or exile
Look where your team mates are and don’t go lone wolf
stop and look around, know your strength in your possition
take the high ground
know the maps straight off

This is just advice, in reality you just need to know how to play the game, and to do that you need to KEEP PLAYING. Practice makes perfect

Well you can use range weapons and keep you distance.

Search with your friends and not with uncoordinated randoms. Proceed to pub stomp and watch your stats go up.

Take it from me, i search randoms. I have one of THE worst K/Ds known to man.

just stay in positions where you can easily step behind cover if you are almost dead. or be cheap and use dmr/boltshot and camp with promethian vision or invisibility, you will quickly be rewarded with ordinance. The gameplay in h4 is completely different, there is no need for map control so feel free to camp wherever and have powerweapons dropped at your feet.

Never enter an encounter that you aren’t absolutely sure you’ll win, especially 1 v 2 or more. Play defensively, don’t play to get more kills play to get less deaths, it actually helps your team more. Try to stick with at least one team mate at all times and if you can communicate.

My K/D in Halo 3 was .89, in Reach it started about where it was in 3 and towards then end shot up when I started to do theses things. In Halo 4 it’s 1.87, I’m aiming at getting it up to 2. I’m not bragging (My K/D isn’t MLG by any standards) I’m just showing that a change in play style helps a lot.

btb is usually a good place for it(at least for me) and if you want to do it properly. but if you dont care about being a “good” player and just want a nice number then play objective.

…no

Also try to get to advantageous spots, especially go for the higher ground, it’s easier to back up into cover that way.

I actually like K/Ds in Halo and find it important… its games like Gears of War, COD, and Battlefield where I don’t even care about it… it’s stupid.

I like that, “You will be rewarded for being cheap using a DMR/BS by givin powerweapons at your feet… feel free to camp”.
re-worded^^ … I hate campers, they are like a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of my shoe and won’t go away.

I’m adding yet another tip, learn weapon kill-times, learn call-outs, and learn how to counter everything (everything has a counter).

Yes, that is exactly what I was saying, camp anywhere, use promethean or invisibility, a dmr/boltshot combo, and you will quickly get ordinance drops that supply you with powerweapons dropped right in front of you. The gameplay encourages camping, there is no reason to leave a hiding spot, even better you can watch them as they are on the otherside of the wall. It’s like the heartbeat sensor of cod on steroids. This isn’t how I play but I’m sure it is a great way to increase k/d.

Another great way to improve is to play custom forge maps with a friend where all the spawns are relatively close and set your loadouts to br start (1v1 with someone about your skill or slightly better). It’ll help improve your aim; also switch your controller set up to bumper jumper, increase your sensitivity, and make sure your loadout fits your playstyle. I’m not mlg but feel free to add me for some forge practice. my gt is my user name, ‘itsfatherandson’

I would say go ahead and dmr/bs combo if you want. Slayer’s objective is to kill enemy players.

Definitely use frag grenades, they explode the fastest. Practice using the walls to your advantage, like throwing a grenade against one if you come up to close on an enemy. Use high grounds to get the advantage on players. Like on adrift, definitely listen for man cannons. time it right and jump to catch players by surprise as the land, so you get the first shots in. Definitely maintain some sort of cover, never run in the open areas!

And if you haven’t already, purchase a good headset that plays the game sound through it. It will help you with all shooter games. Hear players that run up, or players who are crouch walking around a corner. plus it helps you be able to locate bullet firing locations on maps!

I use AWARENESS and REQUISITION for my packages. Helps you use the mini map while still in scope. and choose different ordinances.

This should be posted in the multiplayer section.

I raised my slayer k/d from a 1.5 to a 1.99 (so close to that 2!). My advice would be to stay on the perimeter of the maps. If you are faced with taking on two or 3 enemies at once, don’t bother, run away. Use your ranged weapons as much as possible, you don’t want to get close if you don’t have to.

Don’t be afraid to use vehicles. I don’t use them all the time, but they’re pretty useful if you’re careful with them and don’t make a dumb mistake.

If you know where your enemies are and which way they are facing/shooting, try to flank them. I got a triple kill the other day on Vortex because I ran around the entire map to position myself behind a group of enemies.

I think Promethean Vision is the most useful AA. I use it all the time to look at my surroundings and see where my enemies are. It’s less useful in Infinity Slayer because I find that a lot of people use Stealth, but in BTB I think it’s great.

I always try to aim for a 2 k/d when I play. Do I get it every time? No. Do I go negative every once in a while? Yes, but I do have a lot of really good games.

Good luck! Raising your k/d really isn’t that hard once you get the hang of a new tactic.

PS, ignore the people who say to use camo, it’s useless and I never use it. Crouching and using camo is a horrible tactic, and I laugh at all the people who think that I can’t see them.

Oh, by the way, I also use AMMO because, since you won’t be getting really close to other players a lot of the time, I find that it’s really useful so you don’t run out and have nothing to use. If I run out of ammo I try and find a vehicle and kill some lone wolf player so I can take their weapon (or just find one on the map).

Dang, this thread promotes camping, dmr, and boltshot…

As long as your K/D is above 1.0, then you’re doing alright.

K/D is not the only thing that is important in your service record. It’s only a small reflection of the larger picture. I have a 2.0 K/D, but I don’t play just to have a high K/D. I play as best as I can and try to win.

Well, not everyone is promoting it.

Halo of Duty… pick your spot and camp for your Kills : > but make sure you got the DMR/BS combo, kill those near and far, camp every hill and corner you want.
I suggest staying with team-mates that have mics, least ways you can call out… always better luck with a teamfull of ppl with mics.
