Rainy and Snowy missions

Walking through the streets with your visor tarnished, less visibility because the rain in a dark environment or maybe the snow, hiding of the enemies. Would you like to see one or two rainy or snowy missions? I think It’s time to make the game truer with climate changes!

I don’t think it’s the type of game that would benefit from it. Metro 2033/Metro Last Light has rain/blood effects on your gas mask visor and that makes for good gameplay because overall it’s slow paced and more tense.

Halo is faster paced and would just frustrate me when trying to play it. I’ve played that Halo: Reach Epilogue level where your visor cracks, which was cool for the short time playing it, but I wouldn’t want to play a long time like that.

I always love seeing weather effects in games. So yes I would like this for sure. Maybe that is something they will introduce in H5 since none of the other Halo titles had weather.

Just in a mission? It would give variety to the game I think

I think games in general are lacking in weather effects. I suppose it’s because credible weather, especially wind, requires a large amount of processing power. I’d love to see anything in Halo 5 that would make me aware that there is such a thing as weather in the game. That could be wind, rain, snow, or storms even.

Mind you, I think visor effects are a cheap and tacky way to make the weather apparent. Besides, any effect on the visor in first person shooters only decreases visibility and hence detracts from gameplay. I already felt this way about the visor borders in Halo 5, and I definitely feel this way about rain drops, frost, and cracks. I prefer a clean HUD.

Well, actually the tarnished visor could be a problemas even being more credible, but why not rain or snow falling of de sky?

It would be awesome if there were weather maps like that!

I think having a stealth mission similar to all ghilled up from CoD 4 would be cool. Imagine being able to use the new squad command system to take out targets one by one.

Yes! I suggested this on the Destiny forums months before the game came out, but alas, it never came to fruition. The thread is still alive though, nearly a year after Destiny launched. New people keep liking it every week at least! Maybe where I failed, you can succeed! Good luck, friend, and may the force be with you.

Yea sounds good to me but I’m sure they have already made all the maps and missons by now so well either have it or we wont

Well. it’s raining on Eden with some thunder and lightning if that counts.

Personally I do feel like we need more actual weather at least in campaign. Having a level with low visible would force you to switch it up a little. Not saying your visor needs to have effects on it, but actually having real weather instead of bright sunny skys with snow on the ground everywhere. Of course, if this were multiplayer people would complain that there is even a single drop of rain or something.

A snowy mission has already been confirmed in Halo 5, and it appears to be the same one in which Osiris fight Jul and recover Halsey. My theory is that this may an example of glasslands, a planet that has been glassed. According to Halo: Escalation, planets that have been glassed suffer a resulting Impact Winter. So it’s very possible that we could be exploring some snowy tundras if we’re visiting some glassed planets.

I’d also love to see some rain in a Halo level. Rain is underused in Halo. If it makes the level as ambient as Halo 3: ODST’s Mombasa Streets, then it would be awesome and suit Halo 5’s themes!

YES pleaseee, i freakin love the rain I’m a pluviophile. I was playing Winter Contingency on Halo reach yesterday and I loved it. Rain makes everything looks shinier and more appealing to the eyes for me, i love the sound, i love the atmosphere.

If it is interactive that would be amazing but even if it’s not i’d like to at least fight in the rain. PLEASE 343!!

I Would like the effects in the visor but I don’t want them to increase the difficult to see the map

I’d love to see snow start to accumulate on your weapon as you move, then firing it would cause the snow to fly off in all directions. I think that’d be cool. Also, for rain, you could have occasional drops of water drip down your visor, and you would be able to see the rain hitting your weapon, then beading up and dripping off of it.

Firefight or warzone would be perfect with weather. But your standard maps in multiplayer don’t need it. Campaign could use it for sure.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
I would like to see foggy level like the last mission of Halo Reach. You could avoid enemies because lack of visibility but watch out for elites with swords. Suddenly outlines of two large figures appear and then green flash…

Dynamic, impactful weather would be completely awesome, but it’s just so hard to pull off I’d imagine.

Some of the coolest moments in Halo, to me, have some kind of adverse weather impact. The rain in New Mombasa in ODST, the snow flurries in Halo: CE when near the control room, the swamp conditions in Guilty Spark, the night storm in Reach’s New Alexandria…the more realistic weather can be in-game, the better.

I think it would be interesting to see halo take that path. I want to see halo become darker and more “realistic”.

In the Sprint they said they were toying with wind affecting your grenades and huge waves coming out of no where on the level showed off in the campaign demo. I think they said they scrapped it but it could come back in some way.
