I Went into a game on Simplex JUST NOW. I have the video saved. The first 30 seconds of the match I run toward the OVERSHIELD… and so does a guy with the Railgun.
I Jump and THRUSTPACK left to make it SURE he wont be able to hit me. He hits me dead on.
I go to the video and I watch it in slow motion. The bullet starts out straight… then literally curves… like FREAKING MAGIC INTO MY BODY… DEAD CENTER… LITERALLY. I mean I saw posts like these on here a lot, but Ive never experienced it.
I got pictures and a Video ITS AMAZING HOW MUCH IT CURVES. IT CURVES like a WHOLE 45 DEGREES!!! It makes skill in this game almost useless because theres not way of dodging it… and not even a THRUST PACK can evade it.
> Ok.

Especially, in the hands of the host the rail gun is godly. It has way too much magnetism, but then again, everything in this game has.
To me it seems like the bullet is curving around the tree.
I am literally getting angry and annoyed when I see a sticky or bullet is no where near me but still kills me. What’s happening is -Yoink-, and last time I checked nobody likes -Yoink-.
The thruster pack rarely allows me to dodge a grenade explosion let alone a railgun most of the time. It just doesn’t have that strong of a thrust to do so, it needs a slight buff in my opinion.
I’m not surprised that the railgun has a lot of magnestism, most of the weapons in this game do.
The magnetism in this game truly is horrendous on everything. I have lately been having a lot of problem with the intense magnetism on the plasma grenades in particular. I had a match recently on exile where a guy stuck my ghost. When he couldn’t even see me in his pov anymore. I had moved out of frame to his left precisely when he tried throwing it, and it STILL stuck me. and no I didn’t hit or touch him, I was close but not that close.
It is more annoying than ever when we come on the receiving end of 1sk magnetism, I feel your pain. I make a concentrated effort to control the railgun on settler every match just because I do not want to be caught catching a rail from it
You got to believe in magic sometimes, more so with this game. What likely happened is he hit you before you thrusted forward but on your screen is looked like you completed the action first, meanwhile the host showed he actually hit you before the animation, so the railgun shot followed. Everybody experiences these stupid moments like getting shot twice before the first one registers, sniped before you turn out around the corner, or short delay grenades.
The Railgun is weird, some games the magnetism is off the charts and others you can hit a person full on in the face and not get a kill. I have a game in my file share of my latest perfection (on Adrift) and at the very end I get the drop on a guy and hit him right in the face only for him to not only survive but he doesn’t lose any of his shields. Cost me a Rampage.
it really seems like half the people in this game still dont understand the concept of internet game play.
When you swear to god you watched kill cam and they missed you, or had no chance to kill you cuz u were around a corner? they already shot, and probably hit you, on their screen. If killcam looks like they arent goin to hit you, its because you arent shown where you actually were (on their screen). Lots of times, youll actually see your body leave their screen, and yet you just died. the entire game lags like a half a second or more, so you have to realize that when they shoot at “nothing” on their screen, it may be where you actually were, regardless what youre looking at.
As for OP, whatever “curve” you see, is just your game finally receiving the data of where you were when the shot hit on his screen. It sounds like you were obviously really close, so he was aiming a direction an shot, but on your screen, you had jumped somewhere which probably put you way to the side. the bullet went to where your body was, regardless, because you were already dead.
I also just watched the “shooting thru a tree” railgun vid, and i see nothing wrong with it.

Youre full of crap.
The magnetism wasn’t this bad in past Halos. :P. IT’s even this bad in LOCAL GAMES. I can go in a Split screen game with a DMR and have the same magnetism… aiming by his head… not ON his head and the bulelts still connect.
As for the railgun, I can do the same thing and it still curves. It’s only been in this game. And Slightly with Halo Reach… but not as bad.
You people will find ANY EXCUSE to support this game dispite the flaws.

This case has little to do with loss of packets, or frame rate. It’s simply very high bullet magnetism.
look at my screenshots in my fileshare…i have a clear shot showing the railgun’s magnetism. im shooting the enemy player with my br and you see my bullets go straight at him but his railgun’s trail goes straight and then breaks left (his left)
I’d say this is the same case as with getting shot through a wall, which is latency.
You are not in the exact same place on your screen as you are on the host’s screen, and the host dictates who gets killed or not.
So, when for example, a host is sniping and there is a little higher latency between you and the host than usual, you lag behind a little on the host’s xbox meaning that your version on the host’s xbox can be half a second or so behind you. When you on your screen get behind cover, you may still be out in the open on the host’s xbox and are therefore a target for him/her, and when your killed by one of his/her bullets, your xbox will put the bullet through the wall.
You either get bullets through the wall on your screen, which in reality didn’t happen, or you get killed by bullets that didn’t even touch you on your screen, which didn’t happen either.
My guess is that what’s happening in your clip is that the host is the one with the railgun, and on his xbox, you didn’t boost so he/she was able to hit you.

Prove you wrong? Ok I will
This Magnetism works in LOCAL games too. And I’m not talking about the shooting through the wall thing.
And that latency argument? I SEE the railgun curve towards me in-game and in theatre. I don’t SEE sniper bullets curving into my head. I can SEE any bullet going where it is supposed to go.
This packet or whatever crap doesn’t make sense and it can’t be true. Most weapons in this game have insane magnetism, the stickies and railgun and beam rifle have ABSOLUTELY CRAZY MATRIX BENDING magnetism.
Lag is an ‘amazing’ thing. It’s the real problem with this game. I thought it was bad in Halo 3 in its prime, but this game redefines choppy gameplay. That’s the real problem BY FAR.
In a game where a simple crouch is all that is needed to save yourself from enemy fire, and yet that packet of information (no matter how small) is magically lost completely ruins the game.
How often have we been through the scenario of sprinting down a corridor only to be moved back to where we started sprinting? Some how the packet for Spartan exhaustion doesn’t get lost. But oh no… According to the host’s Xbox, you were standing around like a moron.
Also: magnetism is high, but it’s not so ludicrous that I don’t have to line a cursor up with the target. Stop making it out as if that were the case or the primary problem. The unfortunate matter is that when the attacker fires while the reticule is red, it will hit what he/she was aiming at no matter what (bullets coming through/going around walls anyone?).
I don’t think you really understand what’s going on. The magnetism part is when the RG is red reticle and it auto-straight lines towards the enemy.
Latency “sticks” occur when animations “catch up” to perceived player position. You may think what you’re seeing on screen is what everyone is seeing but it’s really just an approximation of the reality of what a LAN game is like.
Yesterday I had 2 kills with the rail gun that were obviously influenced by the network connections.
The first was a player on my screen had the projectile (It doesn’t look/act hitscan BTW) zoom right by their helm and clearly impacted behind them with an explosion… But then I was all like Jonny Cage and said “This is the part where you fall down.”, and then the enemy exploded as if hit.
The second was a dead-on shot by myself far out of red reticle range. Beautiful lineup on my part. I even shot the enemy right in the butt. But as I was admiring the shot I noticed that when I allowed the frames to move forward a couple, that the tail of the rail gun “grenade” moved with the enemy and appeared to make a near 90’ sudden vector change before exploding. The explosive impacted, then the trail moved.
I just love when I get a direct hit with the Railgun, and nothing happens. For some reason, that problem is only starting now, and I’ve had lag issues from day one.
