Ragnarok isn't that good...

So whenever I play a playlist with Ragnarok in it’s rotation, it seems that everyone always votes for it. But why? I don’t get why it’s so great of a map, and many of the Halo 4 maps are much better. I mean, it’s mostly just a big field, it doesn’t have any of the verticality that makes many other maps so great. The whole big field thing also means that the numerous vehicles are very OP opposed to spartans: if the enemy team gets two or three vehicles and your team is waiting for your’s to respawn, prepare to die again and again until they do. Many of the new maps, especially Exile and Haven, do not have these issues. What do you guys think?

BTB has always been very vehicle-combat oriented. Seems like Ragnarok is the friendliest map for vehicle combat. Mantises, Banshees, Warthogs, Mongooses, Ghosts. It’s varietal. That, and you can actually survive in the Warthog for more than ten seconds on it.

I just flat-out disagree about the vehicles being OP on that map.

LOL. “variety” of vehicles. The only useful vehicle out there is the mantis. Even said, it’s still useless.
Haha mongooses. i love how you mention mongooses. Who uses those “I’m-a-easy-kill” vehicle.

Most of the maps are not that good man.

Think of halo 4 maps compared to halo 3 maps. Halo 3 maps are way better for gameplay. Then think of the legendary halo 2 maps that make some people water at the mouth just thinking about (burial mounds, ivory tower, midship, lockout, beaver creek, sanctuary just to name a few).

Honestly if you want to really enjoy playing the game try downloading a couple of remake maps from h3 and h2. They are way more fun to play then maps like abandon adrift and solace.

I actually like Ragnarok, It’s pretty fair and has a Nostalgic feel to it.

You know what map people voted on Reach a lot and I seriously think it was crap? -Yoinking!- Spire that’s what.

Nostalgic Halo 3 fanboys are essentially the only Halo players left so that is why it’s constantly picked. If 343 ever remakes Sandtrap BTB will be killed for me and I’ll have to stick with playing the Haven 24/7 playlists.

Because it has alot of vehicles and it’s a big open area for all the DMR spammers to camp and shoot.

Haha halo 3 fanboy? didn’t know there was such a thing that must be a reach term i’m not familiar with

I love getting on the mongoose and taking the gravlift

Deja-Vu.

Play the map, get used to it, find which weapons are most reliable in that map, and adapt. I personally enjoy the Halo 3 remake.

Agreed with OP

Ghosts and regular Warthogs kill me more often than any other vehicle, including the Gauss Hog and the Scorpion. Ghosts in particular. They’re my weakness.

Wreckless badasses. I usually see at least one guy riding around on a Mongoose every single game on Ragnarok. I respect such carelessness, and I say as much to their corpses.

I’d like to see some flag or other objective game-types, its starting to get a little boreing.

Does everyone assume that people that don’t like Halo 3 only played Reach? Halo 3 is a trash game… End of story… Many will defend it and say it’s competitive. That’s the even funnier part considering most pros quit playing competitive Halo because Halo 3 was so terrible. It was a bad game for everyone because it felt so broken. The BR… The main precision weapon in the game was about as precise as a DMR fully bloomed.

If you people don’t believe me and consider Halo 3 to be a competitive Halo game go find me ONE pro that would say that Halo 3 wasn’t a broken pile of hot garbage. That’s all I want… One pro saying that Halo 3 is a solid competitive game. I know that most of the main pros could have cared less for Halo 3. They just kept playing that horrible game because it was making them money.

This map is mediocre. The only reason people pick it so often is because they are too blinded by nostalgia to see that it’s outdated and inferior to new maps. I never vote right away because I just wait for people to start voting for it and then I back out immediately.

I personally find that the DMR breaks this map very badly, with its laser accuracy from across the map.

DMR make it difficult to move with out getting your head shot on anything.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Not sure if you’re trolling, but for the sake of it - you mustn’t play games with much teamwork if you think the vehicles are useless…

@RecallAP

Halo hit the nail on the head, then drove it home with Blood Gluch way back in the first one.

Ever since, maps similar to that type have always been very, very fun maps.

Although I have to say, I am really -Yoink!- tired of having been playing on Ragnarok for how many years now?

Come on. I get the throwback maps, but there isn’t one other map of that style in Halo 4.
