Before you say anything this isn’t a complaining thread, I just want to bring up a certain factor that has annoyed me from day one.
I am a big team battle player. I love BTB. In Reach, there was a decent selection of maps (sure they were mostly Forge maps but at least there was variation). In Halo 4 however there remains one slight problem. The only damn maps I ever get to play in BTB are Ragnarok and Exile. Don’t get me wrong, I think they are great maps but they get very tiresome after a while. Whenever longbow, Vortex or Meltdown appear they are never voted for but the second Ragnarok or exile appear then that’s it you already know what map it’s going to be.
Long story short. What’s the point of having 3 other maps which are never voted for in BTB when everyone knows that Ragnarok and Exile are the dominant choices?

Ragnarok and Exile should be removed from rotation for a while, give the oher maps a chance. I’ve never been on Meltdown or Longbow, myself, because they never get a look in. It’s not as if Exiile and Ragnarok are that good. Ragnarok is a rehash of Valhalla which has been ruined by the prescence of excessive vehicles and Exile is just unbalanced. On one side of the map, next to the Blue team spawns, you havea gauss hog and a standard warthog. Maybe a ghost around the corner, where as the red spawn point is closer to the scorpion and the Banshee and people just camp on the 'hogs.
I’m working on a couple of Impact maps. Slow going because this is the first time I’m actually making a map and I want them to be just right. I’ll have a look at Exile and Ragnarok and see what I can do with them. If not me, then hopefully someone can balance them out.

I agree. I am loving Halo 4 but it does bother me that in ALL gametypes it is just the same two maps or so being voted for again and again. There are maps that I have never played while there are some that I know as well as maps from Halo 3.
100% agreed. I don’t even like Ragnarok even that much. I think you have a huge disadvantage if you don’t use an assault vehicle or heavy weaponry.
And hell, Exile is great, but so are the other ones! Longbow and Vortex are killer, as Meltdown.
And I think the maps are a definite step up from Reach, for some reason, I think they have a more ‘‘Halo 2’’ feel to them, hell, more than Halo 3 I’d say.
I haven’t even played Vortex, and Meltdown only once. I think they need to mix in a few voting rounds where the choices are Vortex, Meltdown, and Longbow.
The kids like the pretty looking maps… but you are not messing much real variety in the other maps. They are basically figure 8’s. I think that is why Ragnarok is chosen so much. It’s straight forward. Not a winding loop with caves that just go in circles.
Because most people play BTB for vehicles and they are the only 2 good vehicle maps, and even then Ragnarok is basically who can steal the other teams vehicles and camp the other teams base harder and longer (lol).
Meltdown is basically regular slayer with more people and the occasional Mantis to board (because maneuvering a mantis on that map is like trying to run while knee deep in pudding) and Vortex boils down to who can get the Wraith and sniper rifle and pound the enemy spawn first.
Exile is really the only fun, balanced vehicle based map. You could argue the tank is OP but I’ve been able to take it out with a gauss hog there are enough caves and cover to get around it if it’s becoming a problem.

You’re kidding, right? The red team spawns closer to both the Banshee and the Scorpion and they start picking off the blues who are making a futile effort to try and reach the Scorpion and Banshee. I know, I’ve tried. It’s a straight shot from the Blue spawns to the Scorpion, but that’s not enough because the Reds still get there first.

It’s a shame because I find the other BTB maps to be really fun. I understand people are really familiar with Ragnarock and that Exile has the Scorpion but, come on guys, maybe you’ll find a new favorite if you just played the others occasionally. Surprisingly, I like all of the BTB maps, almost more so than the regular IF maps. That’s coming from a traditionally 4 V 4 guy.
This, so much this. I hated Valhalla then, and I don’t like it now… but you’re lucky you even get to see it, all I EVER seem to get is Exile and it’s driving me insane. Vortex and Meltdown are two of the best maps in the game and I’ve played them like twice each…
Yeah really, what the hell? I have been trying to play vortex from day 1 but I LITTERALLY have yet to play it in BTB, what’s wrong with vortex?? Stupid community only ever plays maps with grass it seems.
I played some dominion yesterday, played exile 3 times in a row, fourth game, guess what: effing exile again. I just turned my Xbox off when I saw everyone voted for it again.
Also I hated Valhalla in halo 3 and I hate it more in halo 4 (mostly because of the vehicle cluster f***) something about that map just doesn’t click with me, sucks because everyone else always votes for it
I was a huge fan of BTB on Halo Reach. That was all that I ever played. The maps had variety, Hemorrhage was pretty much my favourite map. It was open and not crowded. I find that a lot of the Big Team Infinity maps are not Big Team anymore. You can’t rush vehicles against each other that easily anymore. More maps are needed, more variety.
