So, joining Warzone games that have already started isnt anything new and I’m fairly sure its been a thing ever since day one. It never really bothered me in the past as you tend to get thrown in fairly early and both teams are well balanced with a close score, at worst you’ve usually missed clearing out the bases (not every time mind you but in most cases).
After the Ghosts of Meridian update however I seem to be joining games in progress more often than I am playing a match from the start, this is particularly frustrating because I’m put on a half full and losing team half way through a game with very little hope of making a comeback, to add to this the games are unbalanced with the enemy team having more skilled players with higher req clearance.
Has anyone else noticed this or am I just striking out with unlucky matchmaking?
Despite the fantastic new maps the latest update has stifled my enjoyment of H5 and I think if the next update doesn’t turn things around then I may drop off and stop playing regularly.
JIP isn’t that bad. I joined a losing game of Warzone on Skirmish at Darkstar, and we ended up triple-capping the enemy team and blowing up their core. It was a solid 100-500-something win.
I recommend, if you have the time, to play 2 or 3 matches in a row. Usually if I get jip, it will be only for the first match.

That’s the same thing that usually happens to me. Although I never really mind getting jipped, so long as it’s not a “trapped in the core room” scenario I’m more interested in playing the game for fun than winning.
You could always just dashboard if you’re joining a match in progress. You can tell when searching if it jumps from searching to loading without starting a dedicated server that it’s going to be a JIP. Plus the background image won’t change.

This has been happening to me entirely too frequently after the last update. It actually makes me want to stop playing Warzone.
Since the last drop, it has been happening more frequently.
I don’t mind at all, I sometimes hit the very end and get free exp points and req points.
Sounds like unlucky matchmaking. I rarely join a match in progress for Warzone. It’s unfortunate, OP, that you’ve been thrown into unfair matches. Sounds more like a symptom of quitting mentality than a matchmaking issue, though.
I really don’t like joining games that are half way over, 343 needs to fix that issue, but not like they will actually fix it without getting money in return.
Had this happen yesterday after I used a Mission: Victory boost. Joined in progress where the team I was added to was already losing big and had one armory. Within a minute of me joining, we got triple-capped and ended up losing. I feel like you should get your boost back if you JIP in warzone. It doesn’t happen all that often to me, but I’m really hesitant to put boosts on now until I see the countdown and know it’s starting a new game.
Its good to know that Im not alone noticing this, hopefully the next update will reduce the frequency of JIPs along with a few of the other issues Ghosts of Meridian brought about.
I did play a few games in succession last night and still found it to be a mixed bag of playing from start and JIP, it would be nice if you were kept in a lobby with the players from the last game a la Reach/H4 style, I’m pretty sure it does this to some extent in Arena but not so sure about Warzone.
I play for fun but joining a team mid game getting completely steam rolled is anything but fun,
I’m confident there is a correlation between DNFs and JIP. So the less you quit, the less you get tossed into JIP games. JIP is a punishment for habitual quitters.
I don’t have any evidence or sources to support my theory, but it’s a correlation I’ve seen in everyone that’s complained about JIP. OP has 2 DNF in last 10 games. Looking through the pages of matches, looks like OP has a 20% quit rate.
At least give the fricking option if you want to join a game in progress or not it’s the stupidest crap ever just because -Yoinks!- on duty is doing it doesn’t mean halo has to…
Been happening way to often lately not so much if using balanced search preference but using focused it happens all the time
well what do people expect? who is more likely to have open spots in a warzone game? teams with people who rage quit because they are losing, or a winning team with people who are enjoying it? (Now sometimes you can jump into a game on the winning team because of network or server failures, or somebody has unexpected things happening, but its just simple logic: you’re jumping into a game with open spots because people rage quit ALOT
Get used to it, or go do something about it, and whining doesn’t count as doing something. (I dont play solo warzone for many reasons, this being one of them, so I go online to find groups to play with which makes the experience much more fun, its not hard to do.)
