Radar still hasn't been fixed since launch?

What a piece of garbage! Why even have it? You simply do not have enough time to react. It’s pointless.

It’s fine.

Then don’t simply stare at your radar. Actually focus on your surroundings.

18m is a little short.

Especially if every one is sprinting waiting to use their pannic buttons. (Spartan charge)

Bring back 25m!

It probably affects people differently depending on play style. In arena I’m shooting at people well beyond radar range most of the time anyway so radar is fine to me.

They have made patches to some things.

Like how jumping used to affect the enhanced radar armor ability.

Now jumping and clamoring hardly appears on the radar.

I actually have to agree with OP here. Why even have a motion tracker if it’s going to give you little to no information of where your targets are in an Arena playlist? With the enhanced movements and faster gameplay, it would make sense to keep it at 25m just how it was in the Beta. The Beta played gorgeously and more people seem to flock to how it played back then.

Take FFA for instance, I’ve managed to get my Champion rank in the playlist and along the way, I’ve noticed just how useless the MT actually is. You hardly have time to react when someone Spartan Charges you, you hardly have time to react when another player spawns right behind you after you yourself have spawned 3 seconds before, and after a 1v1 fight, you don’t have any sense of where another opponent might pop out to try and finish you off. So you really can’t seem to prep for the next fight without knowing where they’re going to come from.

Headsets can only do so much when there’s not constant grenade explosions, gun fire, etc. to know exactly where another player might emerge from. Obviously you try and pre-nade particular areas where players spawn but that’s really all you can do and it’s mostly based off luck.

Bring back 25m.
It will allow us to defend spartan charge and also make the solo-queuing experience much more bearable in Arena.
Also honest question to those who think it’s fine as is, what are your arguments?

No, it’s not fine. Don’t you people like to know when you’re about to get into a fight with a bad guy? Without a useful motion tracker, the game essentially turns into hide-and-seek, since the outcomes of duels are determined more by who can surprise who, than on actual skill. This is especially true with Halo 5’s faster TTK.

Can’t be fixed because it isn’t broken. This is the radar range they want for this game. It’s plain and simple. If they launched this radar in MCC it would be broken because it’s changed from something that was there before. But they purposely made this way smh good or bad it’s not like it’s a glitch or something.

dont like throwing “get good” around but if you been playing since launch and ppl are still catching you off guard. You are either oblivious to your surroundings, have terrible reaction time, or reply to much on smartscope.

Only time I get ambushed is when I was caught scoping for too long. If the guy sprinting going for a noob Spartan charge gets noticed and lit up before any real damage is made smh.

Stop dying and saying things like " in old halo I would have saw him" and just adjust until halo 6 clearly this game is going to be payed with a shorter radar.

I hate the Motion Tracker in 5. I dont know why but CE seems to have better range then 5.

While I actually would like to see the radar have a little bit more range, your topic subject is more clickbait than anything else. You were complaining about the radar in another discussion thread two months ago, so this really isn’t a surprise to you and 343i obviously wasn’t going to have some type of “radar epiphany” since June.

No one is saying that it’s broken or a glitch or whatever. What we’re saying is that the reason behind changing it from 25 to 18 is pretty stupid. “wanting it to be more competitive.” B****, if you want it more competitive, either take it out completely or keep it at 25m. Every single Halo has done just fine with the 25m range. Why all of a sudden does it not work for H5? Obviously it’s not because of the movement mechanics because this Halo is far more faster paced than any other previous title. So it would be completely backwards thinking to reduce radar range to balance out faster movement mechanics. What else could it be? Oh that’s right, they wanted it more competitive.

What a stupid reason to change something that wasn’t an issue at all in the first place. I have the situational awareness of a god-damn lion so I perform just fine with or without the motion tracker. But when you’re constantly getting shot in the back from a player that miraculously managed to be 60ft behind you (not far at all) and don’t have the teammates to call it out either it being they dont want to talk in their mic and/or you go into a team playlist solo, then it becomes a problem. Also, if you haven’t played high Onyx/Champion FFA games, then you clearly have no clue that players of that skill level still utilize the spartan charge.

FFA suffers from the short radar range the most. Literally after spawning someone will manage to spawn right behind you and start shooting you in the back before you even have a chance of reacting. Now obviously this is a spawn issue as well but with a 25m motion tracker you can at least detect them A LOT later and have a decent chance at surviving that encounter.

It gives the best of both worlds. Short range allows for actual thought and individual plays to occur.

I’m fine with how it is honestly, with the 25m I used to miscalculate and would think they are closer than they really were.

It’s the Motion Tracker. I think it annoys me more than it should! But back on topic, I think the Motion Tracker is fine, but one flaw I can see is that it is very difficult to differentiate whether someone is moving above or under me.

It was never broken.

Only use radar when camping
